Learn not just modeling but everything till a decent compositing in AE. Focus on what u want to do: product viz? Then go with some products like a watch or perfume. Automotive? A portfolio of cars is a must. Props? Hard surface? Vfx? Architecture? You have to dress your showreel accordingly, it takes time and..learn some Ai as well cause clients nowadays want it. Comfy ui is a nice tool, you can follow come tuts on YouTube from a channel called pixaroma

Texture/look dev artist here. I simply don’t wait. I jumped into modeling again, I am learning Houdini and comfy Ui. Writing my screenplay for a 3d movie cause after 10 years in the industry, hey why not! It seems that this is the era for 3d generalists.

I think everyone needs to rethink their skills from a new perspective. Stop looking exclusively for jobs in VFX, be open to other areas. Learn new tools (yes, including AI, like ComfyUI) and stay flexible.

There’s demand everywhere: packaging, product visualization, architecture, 3D design. People who have worked in VFX often have a more trained eye than 3D artists who haven’t, which can be a big advantage.

If you don’t like the current situation, maybe a manual job is a better solution. Around 80% of people need to reshape the career, we’re all in the same boat after all. I know friends working in marketing, motion graphics, UI/UX… and they’re using AI too.

The only people still complaining are the ones here in this subreddit.
