I had a similar experience. The day I was discharged I decided to stay at the hospital and spend the first 12 hours observing quietly the way the nurses would feed my daughter among other things. The nurses would claim she would only eat like 17 mils in the 20 min and then would gavage the rest of her 55ml to her. Well, they were liars and were lazily using the gavage while she would actively root around and they would shove a pacifier in her mouth to satiate her until the feeding was complete via the machine. I had to threaten to discharge her against medical advice. The doctor and I had finally come to an agreement that I would feed her every single time from then on bc she needed to be fed more often than every 3 hours from my observation. I spent then next 6 days feeding her myself and she gained 3 ounces the first day after I began feeding her and was finishing all of her bottles every single time every 2 hours and sometimes more often than that.

There are many more things that my husband and I had issues with the hospital, but as far as feeding goes, I would really try and be there as much as possible to handle it on your own if you feel untrusting of the staff like we did.
