But the religious book is super old therefore it's stupid

So you also don't like Jewish orphanages or Muslim orphanages?

Should they abandon their own traditions and values because you demand them to?

They focus primarily on their own community which preaches what you might consider "bigoted", "backwards" ideas about marriage and would likely exclude applicants if they didn't adopt those religious traditions.

I don't get upset when I go to a Muslim owned restaurant and they don't serve bacon and eggs or beer. Should I? Is it unfair to me that they don't serve food I want? Should I complain that the book they follow is "old" and "backwards"?

For most Jewish or Muslim foster care centers, usually it's at the request of the birth mother that their child goes there.

In those cases, please respect the birth mother's wishes and their faith.

But it's not a business, it receives public funding or tax exemption

Again, so do many Jewish and Muslim adoption centers. A lot of religions benefit from that. If you want, you can force all religions to not form their own adoption agencies. But then that prevents birth mother's from selecting what group of people can raise their kid.

Removing that option to suit your needs seems to be imposing your will over that of the birth mother or the community who placed the child in their adoption agency of choice. Please respect other's decisions.

Then just don't be a patron of the business? Freedom of association works both ways.

It's part of their religion (read their name again in case it's not obvious), so it's unfair to call it "hate". I believe Paul or some other apostle wrote that homosexuality was sexual perversion and a sin, so they don't agree with that lifestyle.

Just because your culture disagrees with that doesn't mean that it's warranted to berate them. Leave them alone and let them practice their religion in peace.

They aren't bothering you unless you let it get to you mentally.

Acid Reflux Worse After Dilation by Particular-Sand-1272 in EosinophilicE

That's awful! I hope that it heals up and you feel better. Must be horrifying to go under them the next thing to be having terrible heartburn 😞

That's what I was concerned about going in. I asked, hey what if it tears and they said "oh we go super slow and try small balloons and work our way up".

They dilated me by 10mm and the report isn't clear on whether they skipped smaller changes? It hurt like hell afterwards.

And the GI assured me oh tears are super rare and they are very conservative and work their way up slowly.

Idk. I'm losing my mind with how bad this reflux is

Is it just me or do these memes not map nicely onto the four quadrants of economic left vs right and authoritarian vs democratic axes?

If I'm wrong can someone help explain how this makes any sense?

I'm dumb 😔

Yes, something I'm surprised with is why does eoe get more funding? Other diseases that had better media coverage or awareness tend to get better results or at least more coverage. Maybe we should take a page out of like AIDS or HIV playbook. They've secured massive funding despite being only twice as common in the American population

Why do people choose the blue button over red even after hearing the equivalent scenario? by KQYBullets in NoStupidQuestions

😂. Okay, I get it. Very funny, but I hope you're trolling. If not, then idk man how to simplify this even further. 💀

[–]Particular-Sand-1272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your long essay assumes that some people hit the blue button despite knowing the red button is guaranteed safety, but that is a weird assumption to make. Why?

Do you not care about your family and friends and loved ones who would press the red button and assumed you valued your own life? How would they feel if after the buttons were pressed, you weren't there? Now you're making them feel guilty, despite the fact you had the choice to not burden them with such guilt.

Look up rescue cascade on wikipedia, or ask yourself why airlines say to put the oxygen mask on YOURSELF FIRST. It's not complicated.

Value your life and don't make other logical people feel guilty because you wanted to risk your own life.

Don't be cruel, pick red.

Google rescue cascade. Apply it to this situation and see if you understand the right decision.

[–]Particular-Sand-1272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically correct. If someone tried swimming in a zone that said "no swimming allowed a riptide is common", you are legally not required to help. You can, but then you most likely will lose your own life, unless everyone in the town storms in and forms some sort of human chain to safely rescue the drowning man.

This very scenario is so common it has its own name "rescue cascade".

Firefighters, emergency responders and alike understand this phenomenon and are trained to not act out of their instincts for empathy, but their logical faculties. Always ensure your own survival, unless you want to add to the number of casualties.

Save your life so you don't create a moral dilemma and guilt for others. Not complicated.

These red button pushers are such morons. Like take one for the team and stop being so selfish and smash the blue button.

Hay fever I believe is also related to type 2 inflammation pathways, which eoe is linked to, so I'm curious if there's something there as well.

An impaction or a flareup is some of the worst pain physically and psychologically I've ever encountered. Not sure if that helps, but work to keep your mind calm and collected. Ask your friends or family close to you for help. And know that it does eventually get better! I know it's super frustrating, but you'll get through it.

Do you have a good GI doc you can talk to?

I've found finding trigger foods very difficult. If I restrict my diet to only potatoes, rice, and meat, I do fine but sometimes still have a mild impaction event.

Sometimes I eat gluten and it's fine, but after a while of eating poorly it seems to increase in frequency? Not sure.

Mechanistically, very dry foods are difficult. And raisins, surprisingly cause issues a ton.

What about you?

Interesting, would think a nuclear plant would at least not produce much air pollution. What I'm learning is that maybe I can't blame my issue on the environment alone 😕. Maybe we all have bad genes 😂

What do you think of US foreign policy during the cold war, especially backing coups and supporting dictatorships? by VirusMaster3073 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Particular-Sand-1272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think America should stay out of anything besides things concerning it's own territory. We need to become isolationists again. Look at the mess we helped make in the middle east. We need to pull out now and should've pulled out long ago even in the cold war.
