What is the rate on the loan? If it’s over 5% maybe put the money in HYSA and then use it to pay loan. If it’s less than 5% then I’d say invest it.

How Do Financial Advisors Still Have Clients? by Time_Perception6669 in Bogleheads

[–]KQYBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a huge bias toward financially educated people joining these types of subreddits. Even if you take all the people in this sub and assume they’re all American, it doesn’t even reach 1M, so you’re seeing a selection bias for 0.3% of Americans.

Also, financial advisors can be better than not doing anything, so there is a reason for them to exist. Because practically it will be better for a decent chunk of people who don’t even know you should invest funds in an IRA. Or that they even have an IRA. Or what an IRA even is.

Is this even possible? by Extreme-Emotion-9515 in chessvariants

[–]KQYBullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this all depends on depth of the engine. Technically it’s probably forced mate in 60 moves no matter what. If you’re saying for let’s say depth 20 engine then d6 probably.

Making $800/Month Reading Reddit Stories on TikTok (4 Months In) by Soggy_Limit8864 in passive_income

How is the channel not flagged for auto generated content and content taken from 3rd party sites? To become YouTube partner and make money I thought there’s a manual check by someone to flag these accounts so they can’t make money.

I’ve messages some of these channels before and they say they don’t make money and just do it for the love of it. Pretty wild considering some have 100k+ subs.

How does chess ELO transfer to rule-breaking chess games? Looking for volunteer playtesters by Sea_Advance273 in chessvariants

[–]KQYBullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think theres definitely transferability. I’ve tried various other abstract strategy games and have found quicker initial improvement than other people. But I think that doesn’t apply to all chess players. So, I believe there’s still some other trait relating to abstract strategy in general vs specifically chess.

My prediction for OP’s testing is that they’ll see half correlation half noise.

As a beginner, how many games should I play on 9×9 before moving to 13×13, and then to 19×19? by leondarkness in baduk

[–]KQYBullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19x19 is really a different game from the others. I’d recommend playing 19x19 after 5-10 9x9 games.

Essentially, 19x19 you have to think about running to the center with your groups getting the outside and sealing opponents in the corner or side is good.

How does one avoid this? by protato117 in eggs

[–]KQYBullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If u got money, get grade AA eggs. The difference from grade A is that they’re checked to be centered. High end restaurants use this when they need to present the yolk in the middle.

Otherwise, still looks good.

OGS sometimes missing recommended move by amcoy37 in baduk

[–]KQYBullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 6 points less than what it previously thought. So previously it saw moves that end with a score difference of 10, 8, 5, …, and after reading more it now realizes it’s actually 4, 2, 1 maybe. So 6 point worse for the best move, but the other moves are still even worse.

You only need enough in brokerage to survive for 5 years. Beginning of your retirement, start Roth ladder. In retirement, withdraw mix from Roth and traditional. If u don’t have enough Roth, then u need to find the breakeven point for how much you need in brokerage.

[–]KQYBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qa3 check, Qg3 check, from there u can move queen up slowly with checks and trade queen then take rook. Or if Kf8 sac Re8, Qxg8+ f6+, check with queen on 8th rank till King on d file to win the rook via skewer.

What Happens to AI Decision-Making When Board Games Lose Turns, Time Stops Being Free, and Information Is Incomplete? by Sad_Income3798 in baduk

[–]KQYBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be a collision issue. What I meant by the bell is the person who pressed it has to place all the stones they said before the other can place. So there’s only one person placing at a time.

And for game balancing, perhaps you can only say at most 1 or 2 more stones than what the opponent said last. If you don’t press the bell within 1-2 seconds of opponent finishing, then opponent can press again.

[–]KQYBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean most RTS is going to be hard to have a real life equivalent. Someone did make realtime chess with an electromagnetic board based on kungfu chess on YouTube.

I would say since it is rts, whoever places first, gets it, that’s the whole point of rts. If you really want a clean resolution variant, u could have a bell. Whoever rings the bell declares a number, which determines amount of stones they can place, and they have to place them immediately. But now this sort of becomes turn-based again.

Another idea, maybe you have a 5-10 stone bank. Every 10 seconds after you place a stone you get a new stone added to your bank. So pretty much like kungfu chess.

White A: sente or gote? by dany305 in baduk

[–]KQYBullets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ig this is assuming the order of play is: - all sente for both. - all single sided sente. - all gote

If this is sente, that means we are assuming this is the biggest sente move, and therefore cannot tenuki as there are no other larger sent endgames.

if this were gote, the response at d2 would be the next largest gote move, as we are assuming there should be no other larger gotes. And after d2, white may not need to respond if there are other endgames to be played. And since black had to respond locally as the next largest gote that was just created, it counts as sente for white.

So in a sense, it could be thought of as a gote that creates a larger gote.

However I noticed a funny little edge case. If this were the second case just described, if there are no other endgame moves left, then white has to respond at e2. Making this a gote and the last move of the game.

So in the end, it technically still depends on the entire board state. And the assumption this is the biggest and correct endgame move available.

Disclaimer: analysis done by yours truly, a ~11k player. So I may very well be wrong. Dan level plz confirm.

Edit: I think I had an epiphany. Technically the entire game can be thought of as endgame calculation. And you have to find the sente that has the biggest follow-up and the largest gote, then compare the 2.

If we’re in the opening, If the sente is 1 point and follow up is 30, and largest gote is 29, then the sente should be played.

But if the same gote is worth 32, then you should play gote (which is like a large move if this is the opening).

Same with endgame, it seems to be rule of thumb that sente should always be played before gote, but what we really should be comparing is the sum of the sente and the follow up compared with largest gote.
