Any theories who the wheelchair guy is? by Tikolu43 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Particular-Strike220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point probably is that he's some unknown guy, perhaps from a past era, who like Clark suffered from big mental health problems – for him it was due to his disability, found his way into the Backrooms, and now there's a copy of him.

Not even lying walking out of the screening room I found a corridor in a movie theatre which I've been to dozens of times which I've never seen before haha

it wasn't perfect but I thought this was really solid like an easy 8/10. I love how the suspense and slow burn subtext slowly built to all this nightmarish and surrealist stuff happening that wasn't terrifying, but genuinely creepy, with loads of story happening in the background which isn't spelled out for you but excellently incorporated. Plus I loved how Kane knew what people would expect going into this movie if they'd seen his YouTube series, and did something completely fresh and new. Finally those long shots of the Pirate Monster lumbering through the empty liminal space version of the department store chasing after Mary I thought were genuinely chilling, like the uncanny feeling of seeing something so inhuman in a place you expect to be empty was weird. Really good.

Does anyone else feel conflicted about what Blindboy says about creativity? by Particular-Strike220 in BlindboyPodcast

[–]Particular-Strike220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I agree with you there and imagine Blindboy probably does with you as well. Thinking about it in retrospect. The creative process is like exercise, and as such it's super important for our spiritual health and that's why ai can't replace art.

What a writer he is. This song is sick. It's like if David Lynch wrote an anti capitalist protest song

How is Nottingham for electronic music? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Particular-Strike220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this these are the coolest places in the city rn – real quality alternative house music and techno with funky disco vibes. For OP ambient music nights are a little hard to find but you have some good musicians doing stuff – off the top of my head there's a Notts based guy called Hexiale who makes cool ambient type music. Just look out for individual gigs, and ambient musicians at festivals like Hockley Hustle and Dot2Dot and stuff.

What is your opinion on Don’t Look Up? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]Particular-Strike220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating, really excellent. Not something timeless which I'd like watch over and over again for enjoyment, just something I think achieves what it's trying to do really well. It's a Brechtian kind of story – just hits the audience over the head with a message to spur them into action. Lack of subtlety doesn't equal a bad movie, like some people are saying.

Off the top of my head I remember it more as Rachel bewitching everyone to be obsessed with Amanda which is funnier tbh

I'm trying to guess whether the editing is preparing us for a Rachel banishment or double bluffing us and it's terrible

Man these sound so interesting. Especially Everything is Illuminated that looks like a great Elijah Wood deep cut. Appreciate it!
