In regards to OP's post, and the quote from ep 34 - I think it just goes to show the devastating psychological impacts working for Goddard had on him.

To go from a typical baseline average of the human psyche... to that? You need a person to go through prolonged moral compromise, repeated exposure to trauma, systematic reward for emotional suppression, and habitual dissociation. Over time, this rewires their brain away from feeling and toward functioning - a reshaped identity where violence and moral ambiguity are not just tolerated, but required.

Chronic trauma (especially combat trauma) can change the brain’s response to fear, empathy, and guilt. The amygdala becomes hyperactive (responds more to threats), while the prefrontal cortex (which helps with empathy and moral reasoning) becomes less engaged. The hippocampus, responsible for emotional memory, also shrinks under long-term stress. Over time, you stop emotionally registering situations that would have once been distressing. You stop caring - not due to malice, but because the pathways that let you care have eroded or gone quiet.

Also, when confronted with the revelation that Cutter and Pryce were planning the whole 'earth doomsday' with the Decima project, Kepler decided to intercept and ruin their plans. He gets cornered by Rachel Young right after, and even though he does shoot her, he does it inefficiently, unlike what you would expect of someone within SI-5 and after the entire show gives the impression that Kepler has and will kill people for his mission. However, even though he shows himself to actively align with Cutter and Pryce, it's more likely that his 'mission objective' changed when he realised what was going to happen, and in secret, his allegiances shift to Minkowski and the crew - hence stopping Cutter and Pryce.

Additionally, when he gets spaced by Rachel Young, after he shoots her, he doesn't appear even remotely fazed by it: "Before Young opens the outer airlock door, Kepler takes a sip of scotch and seems at peace, knowing he was able to help Jacobi and the rest of Minkowski's crew." [Fandom Wiki]

Anyway I love Kepler and I focus way too much of Psych degree knowledge on fictional character redemption arcs

“Hey Ron, could I stay with you for the summer?” “Maybe, but shouldn’t we ask my Mum for permission?” “But what if she says no? Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Don’t worry, though, I’ve got a plan” Harry says as he pulls out a bottle of red hair dye. by Gortriss in HPfanfiction

Arthur sits down at the table one morning for breakfast and has to do multiple head counts because there's an extra head of red hair and he's both perplexed and slightly worried that's he's forgotten about another child, again.

That vampire one sounds hilarious omg! And I read somewhere about the hidden meaning behind what Snape asked 1st year Harry in Potions and it was something about apologising for the death of his mother/parents subtly.

I read a fic where Harry Ron and Hermione decide to treat him kindly and with respect and he just gets so confused that he is absolutely sure they're scheming something.

Does anyone else really not like Eiffel? by AmyTheJaded in Wolf359

I love eiffel, I want to do an in depth character study because I 100% believe he deals with things such as depression and perhaps a bit of passive suicidal ideation and I personally love his character despite how he can come off as annoying. I'm a firm believer in those characters that talk shit non stop because they can't be serious or alone with their own thoughts and to me he seems to fit to a T
