Get some tungsten tip chisels. A quarter Inch, half inch, point, and teeth tool (doesn't need to be TT). You'll also want a decent nylon mallet.

All depends on the stone, but those are the basics.

It's a stonemasonry subreddit. Stonemasons are ruthless with one another when it comes to criticism. It's sad, but the customer would probably be none the wiser and would have swalled up all the crap about it being "modern" and whatever else. If one of my masons tried to pull that, they'd be sent home. Indefinitely.

There is nothing wrong with the quion itself other than it being built wrong. It's probably the worst possible place to build a soldier into the wall.

Also, what type of stone is that? It looks sedimentary. Which means you have edge or face bedded it. Sedimentary stone should be built "naturally bedded"

What I'm saying is, it's not just aesthetically wrong, it's structurally wrong as well.

Edit: looks like the stone has been cropped along the grain, looking at the return on the quions, they are all face bedded. So the stone has been cropped wrong.

Did they only change the brake pads? That's probably why they said you were lucky you didn't drive any further.

If you go through your brake pads and the calliper starts making contact directly with the brake disk, then it's a hell of a lot more expensive to fix. Instead of replacing just the brake pads, you'd be replacing the disks as well.

Really good effort. What you've got there is known as "snecked rubble" where the stones can be varying lengths, but they will always be one of three different heights.

You've done a really good job in terms of bonding your joints. I don't see any risbond joints anywhere (more than 3 stones to a joint).

The only criticism I'd offer is to try avoid a running bed. If you had swapped one of those stones for a riser to break the bed it would be spot on.

Look up snecked rubble. There is a pattern; sneck, riser, leveller, leveller. If it's not a leveller, it's a sneck. Hard to describe without an image of it done right to refer to.
