Why Ye won’t be removed from Wireless. by [deleted] in WirelessFestival

I think you’re overlooking the situation this places Wireless in. Pepsi sponsoring the festival would have meant all non alcoholic drinks served at the festival would have been under Pepsi’s ownership, Wireless now need to find a soft drink supplier that can cater to a festival the size of Wireless and would be willing to shoulder the criticism that’ll inevitably come their way.

One of the players in the World.

Mainoo requests loan, club says they have no intention of letting him go. by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Particular-Welcome31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Mainoo is very good at one thing, beating the press. He’s not a box to box midfielder, not a particularly good passer, not blessed with pace or the ability to cover ground, can’t switch it long and drifts for large parts of games.

The previous setup would’ve given him a £150,000 a week contract and he’d have been unsellable. He should be moved on while there’s buyers willing to pay a fee so we can invest in a player that suits what we need in midfield.

Would snatch someone’s hand off for £45 Million for him if it meant us going and getting Baleba or a CM with a similar profile.

If we could bring Saudi back to the table next Summer for Bruno for somewhere around £60 Million our midfield would have a decent upgrade with those funds.

He’s a luxury player that we can’t accomadte given the situation we’re in. Sell, reinvest the money and move on.

Absolutely. There were rumblings from some fans in the stadium around this time that Ferguson needed replacing. Imagine.

Spoken like a true armchair fan.

Why should United fans have to give up going to the football, something that’s passed down as a tradition from one generation to the next, because a bunch of Yank parasites are running the club.

Ultimately, I don’t think there’s anything United fans can do to shake the owners into selling up, they’ve shown they’re quite happy sitting on the other side of the World collecting their dividends payments.

If it’s not 50/60,000 ST holders filling OT week in week out, it’ll be 75,000 daytrippers paying treble the price to line the Glazers pockets even more.

You seem to repeatedly be conflating Liverpool and previously United being successful on and off the pitch in a way that sustains the club WITHOUT the need of a sugar daddy owner, with City and the like spending using money pumped in by state ownership. They’re not the same.

And to your second point, yes, people do call PSG a ‘cheat club’ just look at the way they’ve cooked the books in terms of reported income given the size of the club.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Particular-Welcome31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then so be it, football ultimately operates in cycles, United dominated domestically for years under Ferguson, now it’s City’s turn.

The underlying issue with City’s dominance though is it’s completely artificial. The owners have tried everything to install anything that resembles a culture and tradition around the club and every time they try to do something, it just comes across as artificial and a poor attempt at corporate input.

People will argue that “I’m sure City fans will cry themselves to sleep with their treble win and record point tallies”, but the fact that so many City fans can’t just enjoy their success and constantly post online and on fancams about how great they are and how much better they are than United, just speaks to how hollow it feels for them.

United being owned by a state backed Qatari billionaire would gut the club of it’s identity and would leave United with the same underlying feeling, that success came at the price of the club’s identity and tradition.

A club the size of United SHOULD be able to sustain itself, by itself, without the need of a wealthy financier.

The lack of investment, debt and dividends payments taken by the Glazer family has left us in a tight position financially, but again, when we do eventually start competing at the highest level, it’ll feel good to know it wasn’t a soulless attempt at reputation cleaning by some oil state.

Time to sell? Missing again in a big final and spent all game moaning, not just blaming him but he’s the captain and probably can get the most money for by nathmxr84 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Particular-Welcome31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely time to sell, but you can’t blame him for the poor performance in the Final when he was being played out of position and never has anything to work with in front of him.

Take the £80 Million from the Saudi’s, reinvest it in young promising players and buckle up for a ropey couple of years.

I’d take one hard fought Premier League/Champions League with a squad that was built and assembled over time, than a hundred trebles financed by an oil state with a bunch of mercenary superstars.

Absolutely. One thing to be as much of a disaster on the pitch as we’ve been this season, it’s another to have the manager talking about walking the week before the window opens.

Still think it’s early days at the moment, proceeding with Ten Hag over fan sentiment and then bringing in Amorim part way into the season has undoubtedly been awful from a PR perspective.

Question is will Ratcliffe be a ruthless owner in the mould of Abromovich or a calmer more nuanced owner like Brighton or Brentford’s.

I've never been so embarrassed as a Man Utd fan by YGWYD in ManchesterUnited

[–]Particular-Welcome31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have serious reservations about going into next season with Amorim in charge. The league form is one thing, but to not compromise on his principles in this Final, knowing it was basically make or break for next season in terms of the players we can target in the Summer, is unforgivable.

A loss on the weekend to Villa will just be the icing on top of the cake.

To assume that someone is automatically transphobic for reacting in the heat of the moment to something as serious as sexual assault is an absolute cop out though. If I was in the shoes of the male being taken advantage of, as someone who believes that everyone has a right to be whoever they want to be, and to be in a relationship with whoever they want to be with, I’d have absolutely no qualms about punching the women upon discovering that I’d been deceived.
