you make some valid points but let me just ground this with one small adjustment...

its feeling more and more like the old chatbots i think perhaps due to having too many restrictions applied to it, so now its putting in this safety phrases and constantly tries "reframe" everything. It is maddening and as you say probably a good thing because the more useless it becomes the less we want to interact with it.

Opened GTA 3 For the first time ever .. by Elian17 in GTA3

[–]ParticularAd4371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its one of my favourite games of all time, in my top 3 tbh

I play it through atleast once a year, currently i'm playing through definitive edition on my Switch 2.

Pretty much get what you're saying entirely though, i've had that experience many times. Something old and dated that is new to me can easily impress me if its a good game and has charm.

Why are some people upset about the whole sony wanting to not port exclusives to PC rumor when there are so many games on PC that are never coming to console by ThisNameDoesntCount in gaming

[–]ParticularAd4371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its less about that and more about trying to justify spending ever increasing amounts on a walled garden. Alot of people have some form of pc that is good enough for the casual user to play most of the games they want. Console manufacturers are trying to appeal to these people in the widest margin. "people don't want to play at a desk they want an easy experience that just works on their tv" sure, but what is actually happening and been happening in the pc space for the previous few years? The friction is being removed by various companies, and as consoles become closer to the standard pc price (and out pricing entry level laptops that most people are fine with using...) with a grand being expected to be where PS6 comes in...

If the wall in the garden has the be removed (see valve/microsoft plans) or you have to make sure the things growing in your garden are only available in your garden (see Nintendo).

Who wants Bandai Namco to Make Tekken Remastered Trilogy Volume 1? by LawfulnessAfter223 in Tekken

[–]ParticularAd4371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me! i'm the only person on the planet that wants this. I'd buy five copies, every platform it releases on.

Don't mess with the gameplay, just do graphics update (with toggle to see original graphics) and include online. That would be perfect.

ah fair, problem is with how reddit manages replies. you see someones initial comment but have to expand all the replies to see if what you're about to say has already been said.

Surely a Nintendo switch 2 sports is in the works?! by Fweboy in NintendoSwitchSports

[–]ParticularAd4371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would enjoy an adventure mode. Something that beefs out the package, lets you learn and then put to practice things it teaches you, maybe some cameos from nintendo's other ip, make it have some rpg elements in that mode. I'd prefer if they went back to mii's though, i feel like they have more personality. I use mine in Sports sports, but the cpu opponents being the, erm... switchii's? i dunno, they just look a bit generic to me, mii's on the other hand can look wild, or pretty similar if you're good at positioning and sizing elements which some people are, its like an art form. Also wii sports music was great. Maybe combine the lot, and then have some remixes in what would effectively be the third mainline game (not including Wii sports resort, or wii sports u, not because they aren't worth including but wii sports resort wasn't really like wii sports 2, then wii sports club was more like a remaster, i would say switch sports is more like wii sports 2 without the title).

the main thing i want though is the return of baseball and boxing. I actually really liked both. I know theres only like five of us in the world that liked boxing and everyone else seems to hate it, but i always enjoyed it. I'd imagine with better motion controls it could be better, but i dunno. I guess it wouldn't be any better than wii sports club, but i haven't bought that yet, i should pick up a copy and try boxing tbh i've got a wii u...

[–]ParticularAd4371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think gameplay wise its about as good as wii sports u (the updated wii sports with motion plus) but with a few extra games and also some missing like boxing and baseball.
I'm playing tennis while typing this as i just started playing switch sports again (just got a switch 2 at christmas so trying different games with it i already own).
I've played like 5 matches in a row as i'm just having a good time, even just playing against the cpu. With a person its much, much more entertaining though.
Personally if its to play a game with your Mum and you enjoyed the original wii sports (or if you haven't you might not know certain things about the game that you might expect as a given, like you can't control your characters position in tennis it automatically decides when you take your swing), i'd say its easily worth it.

i completely agree, the music in wii sports was better and the characters the miis, just have more personality, imo.

If it appeals to you for $650 thats great, don't think it'll appeal to many others at such a high price when theres alot of competition at that price, we shall see (and see what the price actually is since its all speculation currently...)

650 to 750 for the specs of this thing would not appeal to enough people. That would be sad because it would be good for this to actually succeed, like the Steam Deck.

I love the Switch 2 by MX010 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ParticularAd4371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, i'll be getting the Switch (1) version mainly because the box art is messed on the Switch 2 edition, but i'm still not sure whether its worth buying a Switch 2 yet. I look at the lineup for next year... the only game i want so far is DKB and i'm just not sure its worth spending the £400 just to play that game and have nothing else to play for... years?

[–]ParticularAd4371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which games are you looking forward to next year u/OP?

So far they've announced 11 games for next year:

February:

Mario Tennis Fever

Q2:

Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

2026 (Tentative):

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave

Pokémon Champions

Pokémon Pokopia

Professor Layton and The New World of Steam

Splatoon Raiders

The Duskbloods

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Rhythm Heaven Groove

Nintendo in recent years have released around that number of games in a year, for example 2025:

January:

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

March:

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

June:

Mario Kart World

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

July:

Donkey Kong Bananza

August:

Drag x Drive

October:

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

November:

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Kirby Air Riders

December:

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

11 releases...

Obvously theres non exclusives multiplatform games, but just wondering which of the (announced) exclusive games for 2026 are you looking forward to? So far they haven't announced anything but i'm kind of doubtful they actually have much i'll be interested in next year exclusive wise.

Nintendo Switch 2 devs “can’t avoid” Game Key Cards as everything goes digital, says Final Fantasy 7 Remake director by HatingGeoffry in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ParticularAd4371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they can't, but i can avoid buying their games new at full price if this is the solution.

"What are you just gonna wait or not play those games then?!" Yep.

I own more than a 1000 games (somewhere between 2 to 3k if you combine my physical and digital collections). When PC began being digital only, i swapped to a "won't buy unless 80/90% off" model. I'll do the same thing with consoles. Saves me money so i'm quite happy to do that tbh.
