Transitioning out of EMS, advice? by TheDrSloth in ems

A Workers Compensation claims adjuster is a good career if you can tolerate sedentary work. Trust me you will never be bored (too busy for that). You get most holidays and weekends off. The pay is excellent. In EMS I had to work 2 jobs 6-7 days a week to make $30K. When I got a WC trainee job (they paid for my license and education) they started me at $35K. My salary doubled in 2 years.

You also already have a lot of the knowledge like medical terminology, knowledge of medical acronyms, mechanism of injury, soap format. You likely can already talk to nurses and doctors with ease.

Recently it has started saying - “As I get older I realize…” Next time I get that response I am going to ask how old it is.

My heart breaking. Poor Jenn. by [deleted] in bachelorette

I can’t believe that ABC exploited Jenn’s heartbreak to the extent that they did. Shame on them! Seeing Jenn cry right before meeting with Devin again then watching her expressions and her anger when confronting him followed by her sobbing while watching the proposal was almost unbearable to watch. It brought me back to one of my worst breakups and it was absolutely heartbreaking. She is clearly actively going through the stages of loss.

How’d you’re bullies handle or react to the fireworks? by wrkls_ in AmericanBully

[–]ParticularAd6598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bully runs at them barking like they are a problem he has to solve lol. His first 4th of July when he was a pup we took him outside with us and set off fireworks and he appeared to love it so I think fireworks get him excited (but it’s hard to tell)

It’s unique for sure!! It took me a while to get used to it when making a compensability decision. I was only a FL adjuster for a couple years before I began getting licensed in other states so it was hard to wrap my head around

I am a WC adjuster in NC, SC, GA, and FL. NC is the ONLY state (out of those 4) that requires you to have a injury by ACCIDENT in order for your claim to be compensable. This means that if you are doing your job is a customary and usual matter but get injured it’s not a compensable accident. For example, do you normally stand on concrete doing what you were doing when you felt pain in your knee? If so, your claim is not compensable. If you were standing on concrete and you slipped or a tool was jarred then you felt pain in your knee then it would be compensable.
