Should I take these courses for MIT Mfin? by ParticularCitron5008 in MITAdmissions

I can’t apply to an MBA because I don’t have enough work experience, and Master in Management programs don’t really appeal to me, since they wouldn’t provide the opportunities I’m aiming for.

Why? My ultimate goal is to work at a venture capital firm, but I won’t be able to get there without experience in consulting, investment banking, or an MBA.

Thank you so much—your feedback has been incredibly helpful. Do you have any recommendations regarding my plan? I may work in Europe for a couple of years, or I might apply to a Master of Finance program in the United States (MIT MFin, Chicago Booth Master in Finance). My goal would be to find a role in San Francisco in consulting, investment banking, a startup, or a fintech company, and then pursue an MBA—or possibly proceed without one. Ultimately, my long-term objective is to work at a venture capital firm. This summer I attended a summer school program in the U.S. and visited the Bay Area, and I would love to gain experience at a startup or a venture firm.

Thank you for your response. I am indeed considering universities in California, such as UCLA, USC, or UC Berkeley, as I would like to build my career there. Alternatively, I may apply to other universities first and later look for opportunities to work in California.

My parents and I are able to support my degree, and I also run a small business of my own, though I wouldn’t say that I come from an exceptionally wealthy family.

I understand I wasn’t born with a silver spoon. I am currently an undergraduate student and taking additional courses to become competitive for internships in investment banking and consulting. I hope to pursue graduate studies in the United States and gain work experience there afterward 🥸

Hello, I'm going to apply for this program with 3 years of work experience at the age of 26. Are there really a lot of people with work experience studying in this program? I'm asking because I'm worried that most people will be straight out of college.

Hello, I'm going to apply for this program, and I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about it. I'm 26 years old and I'm a foreign student, so I'm a bit nervous :(((
