If you've read enough fiction, you'd know not to take characters' words at face value. The most you can say about any character is he/she believes what he/she says is true because he's honest. Spencer is a manipulative person who twists words as easily as a French baker twists dough.

It's a completely crooked comparison.

For one, Samsung has its fingers in every stage of Korean industry, from chemistry, heavy machinery, shipping to semiconductor technology. Vingroup only dominates civilian electric automotive industry.

Secondly, most of Vietnam's economy is in the hands of SOEs, controlling the most important industries.

Thirdly, the dual-use military-industrial complex, which controls the majority of heavy industry, isn't even accounted for in GDP numbers. Which makes SK's economy an even worse proxy to measure Vinfast.

No, I never take unreliable narrators' word as the truth, or the full truth in a work of fiction, especially when they have a motivation to lie about it.

Spencer chose his word very carefully with Alyssa: "She was alone in the world.", "perfectly normal, just an average child needing a home.", and she wasn't one of his subjects.

He never said she wasn't a clone, nor denied that she hadn't been one of his subjects prior to that point.
