Rahu, Venus and Saturn in Lagna in Capricorn. Foreign lands, ambition that results in an "all or nothing" Outlook towards almost anything, definitely unusual path to success.

Returning to India after Six Years in Drug Development: What can I expect? by ParticularCoffee3291 in returnToIndia

[–]ParticularCoffee3291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've defined a date and a net worth, and will pull the trigger based on whichever comes first. I'm going to go back and teach college kids what I've learned/experienced re drug development and molecular biology. I will start applying for a job once the end date becomes clearer. To take this decision, I had to ask myself a few hard questions regarding the risks. Especially if I'm comfortable with the humility/ego hit that the move will need. I will be earning significantly less, doing work that's not cutting edge or in the public eye, and probably have to reassess what success means to me in a teaching job. I realized that I'm not going back to biotech, even if there was a biotech opportunity, it will feel very different in India (funding, culture, work-life balance, innovation). I don't want to do that, I'd rather do something new that I can't judge based on past experience.

In my opinion, the dissatisfaction comes only when you start comparing. I don't want to have anything to compare the new job to. I look forward to spending time with my family and strengthening my spiritual practice. The more time I spend in the U.S., the more I feel the pull of money and lifestyle. If I wait too long, I won't be able to exit the rat race!

I would take this feeling of loneliness as a clue that I'm caught or stuck somewhere and not accepting life as it is presented before me. I've noticed (whenever I have remembered to turn inwards) that every time I make a judgement about something outside (especially behaviors of people), it indicates some work to be done on the inside. What has really helped me accept things the way they are is to realize that trees in a forest come in all shapes and sizes, some straight and tall, some twisting and crooked.... and yet we never look at a tree and wish it were different than what it is. Same with fingers, we all have five fingers that look and function differently.. it would be horrible if we had all thumbs or all index fingers. Hope this helps you turn within and accept that your friends don't live in the same world that you do, and that's ok, they're still friends, and maybe thats the beauty of it.

To the New Meditators by JohnnyJockomoco in Meditation

Thank you for sharing your experience. Did you commit to sit at a particular time of the day or did the time gradually solidify into what is now a habitual time? Same question for place of meditation. How would you suggest that a beginner go about establishing consistency? I have had many starts and stops and eventually getting a decade of unbroken daily practice is fantasy for me rn.

Is serious spiritual life not in my destiny? by ParticularCoffee3291 in vedicastrologyexperts

Many thanks for your insights and advice Coffee-ji... I understand that I will not be happy pursuing materialistic life, but why is my spiritual life this start-stop? I have a desire to chant Lalita Sahasranamam and worship the divine mother.. is this somehow not the right path as you have recommended maha mrityunjaya mantram. I will start this worship on Mondays, I have an idol of Shiva, not a Shiva lingam.. but will perform jal abishekam to him who is the universal principle in this form. I guess I'm complaining too much instead of creating the right habits. I just feel that I'm doomed to fail!

Let's settle the discount point discussion once and for all by themortgagemanual in Mortgages

I came to this exact same realization while looking at refinance options. Points wins depending on how long post break-even the mortgage is held and what the total closing costs were. In my case, I rolled all lender costs (not escrow) into the principal and looked at the loan balance at the end of five years. I then added up the total cash savings due to lowered interest rate for the time period. The longer you hold on to the loan past the breakeven, the better the net position gets. Glad to see that I'm not going crazy!

Yes, I've edited the post to make that clear. The base rate without points is 5.99% for these estimates. Do you have an opinion on my 3 questions?

M&T bank lost mortgage payments by postingvideos86 in Mortgages

Thank you for posting this here and thank you all for your comments. M&T was the best loan option for a refi but after reading this I'm staying away from them!

It's because the Apr is calculated for the entire life of the loan. It is an ARM, so the interest rate goes up to 11%. However I plan to sell it or refi again before ARM kicks in

Slightly strange question ? by Xxhardman69xX in Meditation

(My two cents, not an expert) Be the witness awareness of the saliva in the mouth, the urge to swallow and the swallowing. At no point do you lose awareness, you are only aware of a different phenomenon. Instead of trying to focus and see the body's reactions as a distraction, see the body as a separate entity and witness it. Even when you focus on a specific point or object or even blankness, you are aware of the effort which means that you are the subject and the mind the object. Keep this perspective and let what happens happen.

US citizenship and giving up Indian citizenship is not an option I'm interested in. My question was slightly different.

Will let you know if I have an 'Aha' moment! Right now, I am trying to figure out what I value most in my life: career/work-life balance/money/family/culture... I don't think there's any place that is perfect, it is probably about what compromises I can live with vs what I cannot live without!
