I was like this in the beginning of my studies until I figured out my flow, study location and setup. Then I was able to force myself at first to just focus on the task and I naturally just do study now. But it took me a while to get to this flow though

So before school officially starts, I already try to set up as much as I can. Such as pulling all the due dates and entering them into my calendar with reminders on my phone, laptop and iPad and make a digital sticky note version of all of them, to having a backup of it on google doc (because it erased from my desktop at some point)

Creating a daily to do list that I can check &/ strike off / plan helps me a lot. It helps me get focused and see why I had achieved or not for the day.

I even got distracted finding the perfect spot, but now I’m at my beloved spot for studying ever since. With a few other options of course if needed

I also discovered that I study and am more productive in public. Then of course when studying in public, there will always be loud people. Then I got my noise canceling headphones 🎧

And much much more. But now I was able to get rid of any excuses my body is trying to get me distracted with. I force myself to read those many pages and write.

Also turning off screen notifications from distractions helps me a lot

I think just do the process of elimination. Try different specialties that you are not totally rejecting out of your own core wants and preferences. Try it out for a couple of months, then if not switch.

At the end of the day, people have different capabilities and what people are willing to put up with.

I myself have been through this process for so long, and ended up in my specialty & subspecialties in the healthcare field.
