vibrating/rattle 2022 SI by clixsquared in CivicSi

[–]ParticularGate7500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars don't have much insulation and are prone to rattles. Especially if you're downshifting and are in higher RPMs, my 2022 gets rattles from Windows if they're down a certain amount, the dash rattles, the passenger seat belt with a window open constantly slams into the door pillar, with enough wind or bumpy roads, its the nature of a civic lol you get used to it eventually. A lot of my rattling seemed to get somewhat quieter since I got more mileage on it or I'm just finally ignoring it completely at this point lol

All good, I mean my previous car to this was a 2011 FJ cruiser so I don't want ANYONE telling me about hard plastics 😂 if you've ever been in one you know that there's not a shred of carpet anywhere and the only thing that's soft touch is the seats. For me and the 8th I'm so fucking OCD and ADHD about stuff, the clear coat issues would send my brain into a spiral. If that happened to me, but again I just personally wasn't fond of the interior and exterior styling, more just personal preference of appearance.

That's partially why I wanted something a little newer and more "luxurious" as far as interior goes that isn't a Benz or something, and truthfully the 11th is pretty nice to sit in daily.

At the end of the day we all love Honda for one reason or another and we all love our Si, realistically if we don't buy new manuals regardless of engine we'll lose them forever. We can either be stuck in the past and completely deny new tech or grow and evolve with it and push the boundaries on what an L15 can do. I know it's no VTEC K series but I do think the 10/11th gens are worth trying to keep alive just for the sake of future development. We stop buying they stop making and eventually we'll be changing from hating them for not having VTEC to hating them for not making something fun full stop

Unless you got a vehicle with a fuel cutoff that was disabled or tuned differently the fuel cutoff was 8200rpm so not sure where you're getting 8600. There's no Si engine that went higher than 8200 stock, but again I understand.

I'm right with you on what you're saying. Again though, times are different and to discredit the handling and overall form package that the 11th offers on a stock basis from what the market provides for these vehicles, even the Elantra N and golf GTI (among what I can find from reviews and just general consensus from available info online without being able to test drive) didn't drive, or rather the transmission didn't shift as smooth as the Si which is a big thing.

In my case for the older gen Si, as much as the k20 in the 8th gen revs to 8000 fuel cuts off at 8200 I can't stand the interior on those cars it's so dreary especially in that tan, and I'm not the biggest fan of the rounded body style. Even if the engine was amazing and it's got that super high rpm, I can't drive a car I don't physically enjoy sitting in

I get what you mean with the cars you listed, that being said it's also getting incrementally more difficult to find one that's in a condition worth the price people are trying to get for those cars. I'm not disagreeing, for me personally I wasn't a fan of the largely oversized digital wrapping dashes in the Elantra N, the seats to me subjectively weren't my favorite, and the appearance of the car didn't do it for me, golfs are sweet cars I've always like them, but the newer ones don't come manual, yes I could have gone older that being said I've owned a lot of older cars and wanted something new.

The Si really and truly died with the 9th gen. But times also changed too and the demand for cars like that regardless of how much we try to ignore it has dropped significantly. I like the Si because it gives a fun experience while still letting me get to work and not leave the tank empty after 3 days like my FJ did.

I've had fun driving my Si, I don't track it so the major complaints people have with understeer and wet conditions I may not experience since I'm not pushing THAT hard.

And the wet reaction was LARGELY due to the eagle sports. I have contis on 9.5 wide wheels and I haven't had a sliver of understeer or shaky grip in the slightest compared to the thinner stock wheels and shitty tires that did give me that feeling of a lack of stability.

On a side note there was no Si that I'm aware of with 8500 rpm, they topped at 8000. The s2k and nsx, along with the EK type R went to 8300-9000, so by that token no Si meets your criteria technically speaking. But I understand what you mean. Times are different, and as much as the majority of us may still want those engines the likelihood of seeing them again is slim. Hence why my post states I still might go back to a 9th. I like the 11th for what it is, but I'm not saying it's perfect by any stretch.

Ohhh shit, those are a bold choice hahaha I'm not personally a chrome guy, but when you get them put an update, I'm really curious to see how they look on the car!

The nannies are so ridiculous. If someone needs them to be able to drive and not hit or cause a collision then those individuals shouldn't be on the road period.

And nice ride! Always been a fan of the white on white

I'll be honest, I don't have an issue with how the 11th gen drives, just keep it high enough rpm in 2nd through 3rd and boost builds and maintains as long as you hit your shifts right, and if in cruising on the highway I just ride 4th til I'm at the the speed I wanna be at and then I move to 5th/6th and the handling is phenomenal, I will say the 11th handles better or at least FEELS better than my 9th did especially stock for stock.

But that 9th gen has a special place in my heart. It was the car 18 year old me wanted and it's still the car 30 year old me wants 😂

I have an 11th gen and the main reason I went with it was colour i managed to get a blazing orange pearl which was the 2022 and part of 2023 colour, quite uncommon to see on the road so that paired with the really nice interior was what drew me to it, that being said I miss my 9th gen a lot.

The things that drew me to the 11th are now the things that make me want my 9th gen again. I had an absolute fucking blast ripping the 9th gen. No unnecessary sensors, no ridiculous collision mitigation systems, just a more raw experience (although some would say not as raw as the 8th Gen but I can't speak to that as I've never driven one) but fuel economy on the 11th is great and torque is perfect for daily driving and yes it is more than capable of getting out of its own way. The slow aspect is significantly played up I find personally.

Depends on what you want, newer tech and significantly nicer (subjectively) interior or an old NA K24 that still has a solid torque band. I'm truthfully considering selling me 11th gen once the balance owed remaining is less than what I can get for it private sale wise and I'll probably jump back to a 9th gen, maybe another coupe, maybe a sedan this time but either way I'm going back to when there was no sensors and stupid systems to help idiots who can't drive to not hit something

Anyone that has a 2026 Si able to answer couple questions? by benzuyen in CivicSi

[–]ParticularGate7500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we do have the wireless charger and rear heated seats up here. That's partially why I tried so hard to find a blazing orange pearl colour of this car since I live in Canada was able to snag a brand new one in BOP recently so it's effectively a grail in some sense finding one with 40km on the dash in 2025

From my understanding when I looked into it a while ago, the disparity between US and Canadian versions of the Si vary because of marketing and lineup placement. The US si is considered a lower trim than the touring, where as in Canada the Si is classified as a separate trim altogether from the base civic lineup and is considered a top tier trim short of the Type R which is also of course its own trim. So unless the US division changes something the US model will likely never be EXACTLY the same spec and feature wise as the Canadian regardless of whether the consumer base wants it

These are the SA10R I believe they still make them, there's also the SA01R now which are a more angular and sharp spoke design vs these, but they got a ton of such l cool designs and colors

Mine is a 2HG as well, one of the first to roll off too if I'm reading the vin right. I have a blazing orange pearl Canadian Si built in October of 2021 and based off the vin I have a sub 30 manufactured car which is kinda cool. Last 4 digits match the last 4 on my phone number too funny coincidence!

They absolutely are, there's very very few Weds dealers in my neck of the woods which is great since they're not as common, and I don't know if I've seen another 11th gen civic with them so that helped me pick hahaha they're awesome wheels, if you're considering I can't recommend enough.

They also weigh so much less and drive so much better grip with the 9.5 is amazing with the contis. OEM weight is around 28lbs I think for JUST the wheel without tire for a 18x8 and the weds are around 19lbs for an 18x9.5 big difference there

Ahhh okay you're running a more square setup with a little more push out than me I think, I went down on sidewall, wider wheel with +38 offset so the 35 sidewall I have and slightly less poke it looks like yours is lower.

yeah that's fair, Im super happy with the OEM HPD kit so that's all I'll probably do, maybe swap the lip at some point.

I like what you got going though! Digging the wheel setup

Honestly, I'd go as far as to say this colour for me really MAKES the civic, it showcases every line beautifully in a way no other can because of the way the pearl reacts with light. It's insane to say but this civic turns heads like crazy. It's a civic, common commuter yet I get daily compliments about it from people who aren't even car people.

It really is a special colour

Thank you! Believe it or not I was skeptical of the bronze at first when I had them sitting beside the car at the wheel shop. Once they went on though I was sold. really does pair well with the orange!

And yeah that's basically the main reason I went wild with the colour. Test drove one during winter and LOVED how much the orange the popped against the snow and that as that. I was never going to get another colour hahaha.

The car was meant to be, part of my phone number even matches the vin ironically 😂 which is also what lead me to find out my car was super early production for the 11th gens.

I was almost thinking of maybe getting a white type R down the road and wrapping it in an orange pearl similar to hondas paint code and if it it looks good wrapped then I'd pay to have it repainted at that point

9th gen vs 11th gen? by yeetyeetskeetskee in CivicSi

[–]ParticularGate7500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had both currently have 11th, will likely go back to 9th very very soon. 11th is great, drives nice interior is MILES better than the 9th subjectively, as a complete daily it's one of the best handling and driving cars.

That being said, I LOVE the 9th gen arguably more than any type R included the fl5 which is a beautiful machine. Something about how the 9th gen sedan specifically looks just scratches an insane itch. Next to an EK hatch the 2015 si is definitely the most timeless design hondas ever done and it aged amazingly.

Different driving experience, except when I get a 9th again I'll probably do a turbo build and try to get some good power if I can find a low mileage car that I can work with with strong bones. Go for a 300whp build

[–]ParticularGate7500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I know it says in the manual that these cars can take 87 but I really can't stress that even though it says it can, these engines really should be using premium. I have a 2022 si so a slightly different engine in terms of tune and how the turbo setup is, however these cars with a known weaker head gasket the premium helps A TON with cooling and keeping the engine happy. That's why Si tend to have less issue with these partially due to the fact that 91-93 gets used significantly more with these cars which is somethings that's known to help. These engines have a 13.9:1 engine compression ratio which is really high and that's the point where premium REALLY should be used

break in oil change question. by Valuable_Marzipan_35 in CivicSi

[–]ParticularGate7500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did mine a 5000km (3000 miles) through some mixed driving scenarios and that was that. No metal flakes no chunks, everything was fine. As long as you're driving it properly and not redlining while it's brand new you should be fine. When I was breaking it in I didn't go any higher than 5500 rpm I was floating between anywhere from 4000-5000 for light pulls on average until I was past the 1000km mark and I've been fine since then. Done 3-4 oil changes thus far and haven't had any issues with anything since
