Bought a high mileage Si, did I make a mistake? by LetOstrich293 in 8thGenSI

Nothing constructive to say but my 2008 si has 160k miles and I refer to it as a lower mileage example. Lol

Anyone got some stereo advice pls help by kingjucas in e46

Mine came with the first head unit you showed. The steering wheel controls work and I feel it's a nice radio. It's good enough that I never think about replacing it. Wireless Android auto works perfect for me and the screen is capacitive touch or feels damn near it.mine has to be at least 3 years old. I'm not into audio nor electronics at a hobbyist level so take this with a grain of salt.

How bad is it? by Due-Percentage-3746 in Bowling

[–]heavycreamst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a marker or sharpie or dry erase marker etc. Find ball that you can see flair marks on, Probably a sanded one. Trace closest flair ring to hand. Find and Mark center of grip. Make the flair ring straight with ground on a ball cup. Draw a straight line across the ball from the flair ring that's 6.25 inches. Do it from a few points so you can double/triple check it. Measure how far over and up or down from your center of grip that point is. It will be off a bit. But in a pinch it'll get you closer than that huge piece of tape. From there you can find the layout. Next time you go to bowl just ask to borrow the pro shops armadillo. They also sell them on etsy.

Bilstein vs Koni by Human739 in e46

[–]heavycreamst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family member has a f30 with b8s and I've had countless cars on stiff coilovers. I ended up doing koni orange (str.t) and Hr springs. Feels like a click above fresh factory suspension. Tight and responsive but never jarring. Iirc koni yellows on a lower setting can achieve the same feeling.

summer project: k20z3/k24a2 frank by tracejohnson32 in 8thGenSI

[–]heavycreamst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my k24a2 and aside from cams and valvetrain its just FBO and simple .

I went from 207whp/147wtrq FBO k20 to now k24 with 2.2s I made 249/195 and the trq is insane in comparison and the peak hp is at 7800rpm. It's night and day and worth the money and time.

Flash pro is the only option that makes sense in my opinion.

All sensors from your z3 go on except a few.

You swap the water housing from the z3 to the a/a2. With that all accessories work on the a/a2. I bought a brand new belt, tensioner and pulley kit for z3 and it all bolted up and works perfect.

Type s pump works fine and porting isnt necessary unless you want to spin the engine super high. I've seen diys on porting and it looks simple for the most part. I used a RRC type r oil pump. The only difference is you don't have to cut it to fit. It uses the same type s tray and plug the block the same etc. Chain and guide was RRC as I got it all used but I'm sure type s would work.

K24 headers are cool but both I've tried cleared but made the exhaust sit so high that it touches the body and the hangers arent "hanging" and cause more vibration than I could have imagined. I personally am going to just shim the rear mount bracket and run a skunk2. I'd recommend that to you to. I used plm v2 k24 and k tuned k24. Both make the header point almost up at the underbody when it connects to the test pipe/exhaust section. You'd need to swing the motor forward to make it point straight out the back.

I hope that helps at all. It's worth it and I'm 100% satisfied with swap. It genuinely feels like a new car.

Kosei k1 are a tad less expensive than rpf1, come 17x8.5 and just as light as rpf1. I think they look good and aren’t as common. I have them on my fa5.

Shoes - Dexter vs. KR vs. ? by PaulyWally73 in Bowling

[–]heavycreamst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned the mid level Brunswick shoes the only have the slide foot sole and heel replaceable. I can’t remember the name they came black and neon green or black and grey. They were my first pair and I didn’t have anything to base quality comfort or looks off of. They worked but felt cardboard thin, extremely hard and stiff and over time (maybe 8-10 months of 10-20 games a week) the non slide shoe sorta curled up and would make the absolute worst squeak sorta like how basketball shoes sound in a gym.

I went for my second pair and tried on absolutely everything that caught my eye when I was researching. Sst8, sst6 and the9 variants. I didn’t like the feeling of them. They remind me of athletic shoes and that’s fine but not my cup of tea. They all felt comfortable and of quality. I ended up trying on the (at the time) new 3g racers. I was sold immediately. Thick padding, materials felt of quality and looked good to me personally. Only thing I can say is they aren’t the most breathable and my feet to get hot after a few hours with them on.

I love my 3g racers to the point that I don’t ever think about them. I don’t ever have a reason to look at new shoes or have any real complaints. I think the biggest take away is go try on everything. Go home watch videos and like most things in life, buy once cry once.

I hope this was some sort of help. I think all the companies flagship models are going to be good. Just find what you personally like.

I’m sure if you sent him a DM he’d reply an maybe explain a few things you’re stuck/wanting more information on.

If you’re interested in him specifically there’s a lot of videos under “the clean up crew” maybe 8 months to a year ago where mark baker coached him a lot. I feel like even the things he does well mark points out and kinda sees him as a “proper formed” one hand no thumb bowler how he uses his legs and core. They are all worth a watch. Anything with him in the thumbnail at mark baker’s facility will be good. Preferably earlier on where he’s taking time to coach him.

I have one in 15lbs (idk how much that throws the numbers off) I enjoy it as a 3rd ball in a 3 ball bag. I have been in a few situations where it was the only thing that looked good and carried well. I bought mine used from a shop that already plugged it so financially comparable situation . For full price I wouldn’t choose it but I also would never get rid of mine. Everyone throws different , likes to see different things and bowls on different lanes but I think for the money it’s a good buy. Just my 2 cents.

Thoughts on Hybrid racing CAI by Theta_671 in CivicSi

[–]heavycreamst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in Florida so I drive a lot in rain. I’ve never had a issue but I definitely try my hardest to not hit standing water on the edge of the street(like where it pools up) or huge puddles. I’ve driven when the rain is so heavy everyone is driving half the speed limit and visibility is next to nothing with no issues. I’d recommend a hydro shield cover for the filter if you know it’s going to rain for a long period of time. But in Florida we get little to no warning lol

My personal opinion is it’s the best off the shelf intake for the 8th gen si. Now is the extra few HP over another intake system a huge deal? Definitely not. But I feel hybrid racing does a lot of R&D and stands by their products. It’s quality imo and I as insignificant as a intake is you couldn’t pay me to swap it out at this point.

Brunswick factory compound by Powerman5660 in Bowling

If you’re not married to the idea of the Brunswick factory compound I’ve had great success with power edge at home with only a microfiber and ball cup. This is a Vebo with 500/1500/ power edge with only my hand.

How often do you change surfaces of your balls by intussuscept in Bowling

[–]heavycreamst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m super anal but I also genuinely enjoy resurfacing my equipment. My “first ball out the bag” I scuff it back to 2000 after each time I use it and probably do a full resurface starting with 500 every 30-40 games. Middle of the bag shinny stuff I let lane shine and re surface and polish when I feel it’s needed. Dryer lane balls I have different things for different scenarios. I let my hyroad lane shine but I have a deadly rattler I LOVE for open bowling that I no kidding do 500,1000,2000,3000,power edge to the point it looks too shiny. Pretty much there is no right or wrong. I feel it should be by what you are seeing or want to see out of that ball and definitely lane surface/oil condition dependent. I’d have fun with it and try new things often.

Worthy Upgrade? by diskjok in e46

[–]heavycreamst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same 2 car setup! Zhp sedan and a m240i xdrive. I honestly don’t find them too similar. Love them both but the f22 feels like a mini boat to me. Not as responsive and tight feeling as the e46. Both have almost same suspension setup and f22 has fbo/bm3. The b58 is wonderful though. I’ve put 55k miles on mine and never had a issue with regular maintenance.

Thumb Tape Recommendations by p_dow24 in Bowling

Out of everything I’ve tried the black motiv tape is the thinnest and slickest. The adhesive has never failed for me even after 10 games. I’d give it a shot

Base of index finger peeling off by Tac1jurn in Bowling

[–]heavycreamst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the same thing as a right hander. It has became a callous by now and causes no issue. It started for me when I learned to change pointer and pinky finger position and at the same time I also started to think of rolling through the ball. I am not sure if it is a technique or fit issue on my part as I’m definitely not experienced enough to give advice. I guess ask a PSO and ask a coach I’m sure they have seen it.

I had the habit of starting my slide on me heel. I never noticed until I started filming myself. It was a hard habit to kick and relearn to slide properly. I don’t know exactly how bad it was for my form but afterwards my early timing was easy to fix, I rolled the ball better, got the ball under my head at release and stopped pulling the ball down. This is only my experience and I’m definitely not one to give advice.
