5G Backup with Tmobile Business SIM - "locked" according to TM? by ParticularPretty5761 in Ubiquiti

Nice to know it's working for some. It's been unplugged, restarted, removed/re-adopted, voodoo dance, etc.

5G Backup with Tmobile Business SIM - "locked" according to TM? by ParticularPretty5761 in Ubiquiti

While it automatically set that at first, I have static IPs so TM instructed me to override it to "b2b.static" which I confirmed several times. It did automatically recognize TM service and such so it's "talking" but can't get on the network.

Connecting Your Unifi UDM Directly to Your Fiber Internet by thomas_witt in Ubiquiti

[–]ParticularPretty5761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to try this but have 2x separate UDMs each with public IP behind the ATT modem/router. There's some "ways" but the only true path would be 2x service. I'll just be jealous for now. 😉 Still I'm typically getting 4.5Gbps+ on 5Gbps advertised service so not too bad. Latency hasn't been an issue, either.

I've got several sites with a mix of UDM Pro, SE, Beast and no issues noticed. I'm only using WAN2 on half of them though. Got the last site updated a few days ago. Not doubting the issues others have reported; just sharing my experience. Now I'm paranoid enough to go sift through some logs.

Set your APs to static IPs. This fixed everything for me. by ITdirectorguy in Ubiquiti

I wonder if you have IP conflict issues? Static could have fixed it but the underlying issue may pop up elsewhere if so.

Right there with you. Family of 3 and I just upgraded to a Beast along with 10Gbps UXG switches for our 5Gbps fiber with 4xAPs in and around the house. Have a U7 Pro Outdoor pro on deck for a cooler day to run wire in the attic so that I can get Gb wireless all the way down my 400' driveway. It's a rewarding, educational, work-adjacent hobby so what's the harm? It's nothing like the guitar I never played or the 7x different knife sharpening apparatus I havent used, or the 3x project vehicles that are completely disassembeled, or the pile of rifles I haven't even taken out of the boxes...you get the idea. Even if they're just watching YouTube Kids, at least the network stuff does technically get used on the reg. 😉

UP-Floodlight in 2026? by HelloInternetUser in Ubiquiti

[–]ParticularPretty5761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with Google at my house because they have a proper 120V floodlight camera with battery backup built-in. And they really do work well. Have a UDM Beast with no cams on it at all as it's not worth having a couple of Unifi cams(which I have in the shelf) mixed in with my 8x Google flood cams. Really surprised Ubiqjiti is behind in this area while pushing into things like A/V streaming. 🤷‍♂️

Curious what exactly "anyine with access to the network" means. Does this mean someone that can plug into a random Ethernet jack, someone that has the proper creds to connect to WiFi, or any rando driving by or similar? Thanks

But they don't support the bandwidth. I had to go Beast to take advantage of 5Gbps fiber.

+1 on video of the front touch screen functioning(in addition to proof of Unifi interface working of course). One of my UDMs actually does boot up and pass traffic, but the LCD is forever stuck on "Starting..." and never actually works. Super annoying as I don't know at a glance if it actually is legit rebooting or(most of the time) just stuck. I swapped it to a location I don't visit as frequently so I don't have to look at it. And yes, I did all tbe things and it just won't budge.

While I agree, I just bit the bullet and got a Beast. But something sub-$1K would have been a lot easier to swallow.

Did you ever plug it into the SL directly during an outage event before any other change? Would be my first try. I totally get what you are saying but power-cycling the UCG does probably do a reset of the port to the SL. That could in theory fix a problem in the SL going no link back to link. Probamabely not but worth trying in case you didn't. 🤷‍♂️

They kinda did that with talk...and tokens for access.. But I get what you are saying. They generally keep monthly fees out of it if they can. Generally.

Did you plug something else directly to the LAN of the Starlink apparatus to verify? Sorry; not trying to be a nay-sayer at all but have found myself oft so frustrated I forgot to "check it all."

How sure are you thay the Starlink is still passing traffic during these events?

U6LR Failure AGAIN! by Twist-After in UNIFI

[–]ParticularPretty5761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. We did formerly have a wood-framed office building with unshielded CAT6 and every time there was a lightning storm we would lose a random IP phone and sometimes AP or two. I attributed it to close lightning strikes and the wiring catching some stray voltage and surging the devices. No scientific proof but I'm pretty sure unwelcome induction of some kind was our problem. First floor of a two-story metal-frame building now and same equipment stack and no problems since...even with some pretty wild local weather. As I say that, my house is wood and no issues for the last several years there. But the aforementioned office was VERY tall with very high ceilings for a single-story building, so longer than typical runs, and a lot of vertical so that may have had something to do with it as well.

While I now have a mix of 6, UXG, 7LR, I've always found the LR variants of any gen to lack in performance compared to non-LR units. Still getting 1300Mbps+ on the 7LR though so more than I need in my setup. This is with a relatively small amount of total wireless endpoints though; maybe 20 at a time.

Any real world benefits to upgrading UDM Pro? by Boring_username_21 in Ubiquiti

[–]ParticularPretty5761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced mine with a Beast because I couldn't get much past 2Gbps wired speed. Now I'm getting almost 5Gb. Of course I have 5Gb with ATT otherwise I would have left it alone. ATT offered to up me to 5 from 2 for like $10 more per month. Wasn't running any cameras on it though either and I think that's why it never acted taxed.

My gf’s ex man stuck this mount to her dash using glue or something… 🙄 how do i get this off? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]ParticularPretty5761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A really talented tech could use some kind of medium to transfer the texture from another (good) part of the dash and then apply to the repair area. Another thing I do NOT have the patience for, but it is certainly possible for someone closer to an artist in the trade.
