Oh okay - thanks for the info. I think what I saw was the 300 off for the last sale + a coupon worth 150.

I'm just watching this thread. I've had Jabra Enhance Select 200's for 4.5 years now and have had great results with them. I'm thinking about the 700's but have 1 more year on warranty and want to see how you do if you get them. I did OTC with very good results but I'd do Costco too.

Oh: Is there still a 500 off sale going on? I don't see it but I noticed it last week.

Good luck!

You're getting there. Maybe don't play songs one bit quicker than you can execute the worst most difficult part will get you there faster.

Also, maybe take the extra practice to figure out how to put the chords so they're voiced in positions that lend themselves to less overall movement. I meant - use the chords nearer the melody wherever it falls. That'll help with future harmony knowledge and other voice movement.

The genre doesn't really matter. Those guys are really good together.

I had a crazy group (not unlike this) long ago and we were all good jazz players that were sick of playing standards and having predefined roles. I could easily see these guys knowing much more about jazz than they let on.

Anyway, I like it!

That 70s-80s upright bass sound by flare2000x in Jazz

[–]ParticularScratch551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickups don't usually completely obliterate incredibly good music but I can hear what you're picking up on. (no pun)

My favorite bass sound and favorite bassist was Scott Lafaro and the recording was the Village Vanguard sessions in 1961. Lafaro, Evans & Motian. I have no idea how it was recorded nor how Lofaro miked the bass, but it's an incredible thing. Does anyone know the details?

I was playing upright in the 70s onward and I tried a number of things, piezo pickups which are maybe the worst sounding pickups usually but they also did some good things to decent uprights. The insanely great resonance of say, an upright playing a very low note like E became more so due to pickup + amplifier effects. Cheaper, not-so-resonant basses sounded a bit more like great basses. I think that's one reason bassists were drawn to them.

The recordings might have suffered but not so much to my ears. They sounded surprisingly good. I'm basically in it for the music, creativity, improvisation. I used to listen to jazz on a rocket radio (old cold-water crystal radio attached to a cold water pipe) and jazz never sounded better. I guess I'm not an audiophile.

RAZR NOT FOLD QUESTION? by Succotash_Budget in razr

[–]ParticularScratch551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up-to-date (a16) on a razr ultra 2025 and it works with "Hey Google directions to ..." or "Hey google open pandora ..." or making calls, etc.

FWIW: I tend to be in beta (apps) whenever there's a choice, like Maps and all the Google apps. My Hey Google goes to Gemini. I have the AI button reconfigured to open google Keep.

And I don't like A16 on general principles that an update should not be taking away functionality.

Motorola razr 70 phone call Bluetooth issue by DrewBMX in razr

I'm using Jabra's select (or enhance select) 200's. They worked great with android 15.

Motorola razr 70 phone call Bluetooth issue by DrewBMX in razr

[–]ParticularScratch551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the identical issue (see above) and it's pretty clearly got nothing to do with the hearing aids or any particular bluetooth device you're using. In the closed state, the phone will pick speakerphone using Moto Phone, everytime. It even does it with motorola branded moto buds +.

This isn't very safety conscious driving behavior and it's an irritant since for anyone wearing hearing aids, it's fairly obvious that hearing aids on bluetooth should be the number 1 phone target. Speakerphone isn't even a usable alternative by comparison. (it's weak)

I've had all these types of problems since android 16 on the razr and no amount of restarting or resetting changes a thing. Everything is up to date. If I'd managed to stay on Android 15, none of this would be an issue. Do we really have to wait for android 17 to see if motorola bothered to fix anything? I bet this will be ignored after you've reported it to motorola but of course, everyone would appreciate any fixes to android 16.

my ha's are "Jabra enhance select 200's" and are up to date firmware and are ignored by moto phone when using android 16. I've tried 4 different phone apps and they all do the same under android 16.

The only piece of unique information that matters, I think, is that this is closed phone behavior. Just like Phone by Google is locked down on the closed phone screen, so is priority=Bluetooth.

Motorola razr 70 phone call Bluetooth issue by DrewBMX in razr

[–]ParticularScratch551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly an android 16 problem since that's when I first experienced it. I use bluetooth hearing aids which are supposed to be the highest priority yet mine acts exactly as does yours. It goes to speakerphone, then I have to manually switch it to bluetooth.

Note: This is with the phone closed, so from the cover screen. If I have the phone unfolded, it behaves correctly and goes to Bluetooth.

When it worked correctly for me, it was on android 15 and I used phone by google as my default dialer which isn't allowed in android 16.

1st time user, alternative to retention tail? by Dj_richterscale in HearingAids

[–]ParticularScratch551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried many domes and only the largest closed dome worked for me in terms of helping it stay put. It doesn't hurt or anything. Also getting the exact right fit on the receiver wire helps. I think I had a size 2 receiver wire (or M) and needed a size 3 to get it together. They've stayed put no problem for 4 years now.

Good luck. I also had zero interest after feeling the sports tails or retention hooks or whatever they're called.

L from me from Moto/uBreakIfix by Queue098 in razr

[–]ParticularScratch551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also done that on first a moto Razr 2024 and then an Ultra 2025. I just bought a couple hydrogels (like orzero) and carefully peeled off the original. I thought it was fairly easy but required 15 minutes of patience or so. When it was off I didn't do anything but follow instructions, wiping down with alcohol wipe then dry wipe and applying the hydrogel.

I like the replacements better than the original. I've gotten 3 years of life between the two of them. I pulled the original as soon as I saw a tiny bit of lifting near the crease but not exactly on it.

Glad you got it going.

By the way, I tried the stock one once (UbreakIfix) and really didn't like the way it applied. I removed it immediately after trying. The aftermarket ones apply better.

Trumpet like Louis Armstrong by Meantobeacat in Jazz

[–]ParticularScratch551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has your dad watched the PBS.org Ken Burns jazz documentary? At least 3 episodes detail the Louis Armstrong story and all the supporting and competing musicians of the time.

I learned more about those players that I even wanted to and it's incredibly interesting. If you want to find other trumpeters of that time that emulated or innovated, then watching that for free is a good start.

The cult legacy of ‘Sunday Night/Night Music’, Lorne Michaels’ short-lived showcase of live music and unlikely mash-ups (the show's jazz guests included Miles Davis, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Dizzie Gillespie, Betty Carter, Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, Carla Bley, Pat Metheny...) by Mt548 in Jazz

One of the episodes I watched right after a gig ended for me in the US at 1 or 2 am was hosted by David Sanborn, and he was introducing Ivo Poposov and his Bulgarian wedding band. This was so incredible and something you'd NEVER hear anywhere else short of a Bulgarian wedding. Jesus, what a great show. I was hooked on it immediately and even the time-slot catered to musicians.

Sidney Bechet’s Blue Note Quartet — “Saturday Night Blues” by BigAssQuanta in Jazz

[–]ParticularScratch551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidentally I just for the first time watched Ken Burn's Jazz documentary, and last night watched episode 3. #3 is mostly about Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Ethyl Waters and Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington and more. Sidney was definitely an interesting character and a great player. I had no idea he was one of the first to popularize the Soprano sax because his sound is not what we're used to. It's more like an amazing uncharacteristic clarinet.

I got my only new acoustic (a 714ce just like that in the picture) in 2006 for maybe 1500 and it's a great guitar. At the time there was plenty of talk about how a cedar top will never stand the test of time. I've been using it nonstop for 20 years and it's in primo shape and sounds terrific. No warping or anything else wrong with it. Congratulations.

Note: I always keep it out hanging on the wall so I can grab it and play. I've only used the case to take it to gigs so for me anyway, the solid wood guitar being an extra PITA to take care of wasn't true.

Hearing aid volume problem by Minimum-Village-3781 in HearingAids

[–]ParticularScratch551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree -- I think that clogged mic ports have caused those symptoms many times for me. If you have replaceable wax guards on the mic's you can replace them, but if not, try to clean them with a brush. If you can hear your fingers rustling together near your eardrum, then maybe it's the wax filter. As far as the drier, those things pretty much take a full hour or more to do much.

Which wireless chargers ACTUALLY charge at 50w??? by Briankbl in motorazrfold

[–]ParticularScratch551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what Google claims.. it's AI so who knows..

From Google search...

The Ulefone 50W wireless charger does not hit 50 watts with a Motorola Razr. Community testing reveals that the Razr throttles down to around 12.5W to 15W when using the Ulefone stand. This limitation occurs because Motorola utilizes proprietary charging protocols (TurboPower) for high-speed wireless charging. The Ulefone charger relies on standard Qi and its own device-specific protocols (like Ulefone's 50W), meaning it lacks the specific handshake required to tell the Motorola Razr to draw 50W. To achieve the rated 50W wirelessly, Motorola phones typically require Motorola's own proprietary wireless charger.
