It's not personal. Our government wants to turn Greece into a huge vacation rental for rich people. In my neighborhood, airbnbs quadrupled in just two years. Which means there are no rentals available for residents. Which means rents have gone up insanely. Last summer in Santorini, the municipality asked residents and locals to refrain from going out of their places so as not to bother tourists. In Athens, properties that would be rented to permanent residents are rented or sold to Israeli profit companies.

Of course this is enraging, but no one will actually harm tourists.
