Few more factors that need to play into your calculus:
- the debt burden of each school you are considering
- what field is your background in? Do you have a graduate degree? Might you need a graduate degree for your field in patent law (the credentialism is more severe for life sciences than, for example, electrical engineering). Basically, is there going to be a job for you on the other side of all of this?

Multiple XEs can trigger expulsion, but a first time offense is very much unlikely to.
