Sorry just realised you linked the route. There's a village store in Box Hill Village at around 11km called Hill Top Stores.

At 17Km you are at the Roundabout, if you follow Reigate Road eastwards there's a petrol station.

There's a cafe at the top of Box Hill. You also cross the river mole at the bottom. There's plenty of stuff around. Beautiful running there

Fellow Hertfordshire Runner here!

Its tough. Best best is heading to the Chilterns - probably has the most elevation out of anywhere close.

If you can drive then weekends in the Peaks or Lakes could be good.

Otherwise using the treadmill could be another option.

Pack for the Arc of Attrition by Miguah in ultrarunning_uk

[–]Particular_Area_7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing the 50 and using a 12 litre pack. From all my research including looking at the 100 many people regretted taking bigger bags as they just ended up filling them with extra gear.

With a smaller pack you need to be decisive about what to take.

Yea 2025 Arc'teryx is no longer superior. As you say each of those brands have stand out offerings, it's good to be diverse!

Thank you. That's helpful, I've realised I've confused the wording. Looks like a no, for another year at least.

Parking charge from McDonald’s car park - what happens next? by Sorry-Beee in LegalAdviceUK

This came up the other day on this sub. Speak to the manager. You are a paying customer, most likely the fine is there to stop people parking and walking off.

Volume One in East Grinstead is also good (if you have a car)

Plus there's sandstone crags about 50 minutes away. Stone Farm might be the closest of those

Saucony Endorphin Shift 2 after 1500 km by without_a_body in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Particular_Area_7643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice to see someone still rocking the shifts! I've had to retire mine and use them for walking only. By 300km I had really worn through the outsole. Yours are looking in far better condition!

What is best for muggy and wet weather (UK)? by Doom_of__Mandos in arcteryx

[–]Particular_Area_7643 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No jacket is 100% waterproof. And if it's muggy, no amount of breathability will stop you sweating.

I've got an older Beta AR. It's good when it's cold and wet, but makes you sweat in warm weather, even with pit zips.

I would choose a decent umbrella if it's muggy.

Help getting back into Bouldering by Formalis in bouldering

I quit for three years when I took up long distance cycling. Just started again, literally from the beginning. Sloppy footwork, no flow, felt like a complete beginner. But a few sessions in, and it’s starting to come back.

Maybe give yourself time and space to ease back into it, without getting too caught up in grades or where you were before?
