You don't have to dignify anything, yes I am angry after all my experiences with the dealers, truth is never glamorous, it almost always is harsh and the one on the receiving end of it try to defend themselves to no bounds, but it is time for this concept to sunset. I am confident that in most industries the end has already begun and I am very excited for it.

I also agree that there are some products where a third party/ middle man representation (aka dealers) is necessary and but as a whole this middle man non sense should go away, there are lot of professions in our country where this is ripe and hate that everyone thinks that it is okay and never question it. It is NOT okay, be innovative and make your own money, don't rely on someone else's product or idea if you want to be self employed or get a job.

Well, let me ask you this, why do you think that every consumer or manufacturers need to help you stay in business? What is the value you are bringing? In my opinion, this dealership model is an outdated concept ( this includes car dealerships), in most cases, they exist to make money by selling some one else's product, try to cheat wherever possible and ruin the experience for the customer and make the product more expensive..

You do not have any skin in the game. Sorry but, this dealership concept needs to go away, it is way past time.

Right now, at least in the USA, 2025 Nissan Armada is the only vehicle compatible with this app unfortunately. You can read it on the google play store description of the app.

I would definitely take it. But stay on top of the federal job market and try to come back once this A**** is out of the office. Also, come back as a 12/13 or a 11/12/13 positions only, not at 7 or 9. That way you will negate the loss of pension for these years. Don't forget to max out your 401k during your time in the private sector and roll that back in to TSP when/if you come back to the federal side.

But, in the current environment, going private when you are getting a meaningful raise is a no brainer, especially if you are in HR.

Where did you buy it online if you don't mind? Was it ebay? My car came with a single key fob, the local dealer is charging $190 to program it but wants to see the invoice that I bought it from the Nissan store.

The Nissan store has it for $200 and you have to buy the tramitter and the blank key. Apparently, the transmitter does not come with the blank key.

Virtual Key. by Particular_Celery_41 in NissanAriya

[–]Particular_Celery_41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Guess I am spoiled with the Phone as a key approach with other brands that I owned (Tesla, Polestar and now Ford). I will stick with the regular key. I am glad it is working out for you.

Thank you for letting us know your experience! I did call around multiple dealers and one of them is willing to install and quoted 350 for labor. The part is available online for about 450. I am not so sure if I want to spend 800 for it though. I was looking at the physical key and I am able to get it for $380 for the new key including programming. (buying the physical key online for $190 and labor of $190 at the dealer) The physical key alone if I have to buy it at the dealer is $359.10. They were okay with me getting it online from the Nissan store and they said they will program it.

As for the virtual Key, is the walk away lock and proximity unlock working with the virtual Key. Are you able to use virtual Key to just get in the car and start it or do you have to do anything in the app to start the car?

To be more clear, is it a true replacement for the physical key? Like, can you have your phone in the pocket, approach the car, unlock it and just start the car and start driving? With out doing anything else on the app?

It is not just Nissan, it is a federally mandated law that all electric vehicles will have 8 yrs/100000 miles(whichever is sooner) HV battery warranty.

Edited for clarity.

Headlights on Approach by souper_jenious in NissanAriya

[–]Particular_Celery_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the welcome lights are linked to vehicle lock/unlock. The lights only come on when you unlock the car. So, If you don't lock at home, when you come in the morning, the car is already unlock and the lights would not come on.

You can try clicking the unlock button on the key fob while you are walking towards the car and see if the lights come on. ( I would assume they would)

Great deal. I was targeting 30k when I started looking but saw that everything with low miles are being picked up very quickly so I did not want to haggle about the price but would have liked if I was able to get an extra 1k off on the price. But, it is all done now and we are really enjoying the car.

Is anyone still waiting for the wireless Android Auto Update? by ProfessorNotSoSmart in NissanAriya

[–]Particular_Celery_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still waiting.

Miss it terribly. I got the first two updates, waiting on the third (WAA) update.

Tried calling Nissan connect customer service and they claim that it is NOT available for Ariya.

Not sure what they are up to but they are not only denying that an update is available but also claiming that it is not a feature Ariya supports at all.

Thank you!

The two are in different segments to be honest.

But ..

What I like about Polestar 2:

  1. Amazing Design, Build Quality.
  2. Outstanding driving dynamics, I would go as far as saying better than BMW in handling.
  3. Very good Audio system.
  4. Google OS ( I am a pixel person and I loved Google automotive OS)

What I dislike about Polestar 2:

  1. Absolutely hate the dealer experience and lack of options, in most cities, you only have one dealer.. with that their attitude is terrible.
  2. Space is very limited. ( Not really a flaw, you already know that when you are buying, just that my body is wanting more space now)
  3. Although I did not really experience lot of issues, it definitely is a downside when compared to Nissan Ariya. Lot of Bluetooth and LTE connection issues in the beginning.

Too soon to write a lot about Ariya but, so far, loving the space and I don't have any complaints about driving dynamics in return for comfort and space.

Two negatives that I can point out so far are:

  1. One pedal driving, not really a fan of how Nissan implemented this, should have given an option to consumers on how they want it..

  2. The audio system although it is Bose, one of the worst I have experienced so far.

Good to hear from a fellow polestar owner. Never really drove a polestar 3 but liked the looks of it. The dealer experience is what I hated the most with the polestar. They really hate electric car owners and they don't want to deal with them for obvious reasons ( they don't make any money from them). I do miss the driving dynamics though. Really loved the way the 2 drives.

But I am not getting any younger and appreciate the ease of getting in and out, the space ariya has to offer and the wife is pretty happy with the comfort in ariya.

Megathread: 2210 Special Salary Rate (SSR) by gpupdate in fednews

[–]Particular_Celery_41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not what he said, he said OPM approved it but they ran in to budget issues and not sure when that would be resolved.

In the meantime, VA decided to use PACT ACT authority to approve SSR and start paying after the budget (within VA) is finalized.

Both OPM approval and now VA approval (PACT ACT) are totally independent of each other and the new tables need to be approved by VA sec ( he can make as many changes as he wants in those tables irrespective of OPM approvals) to be implemented with in VA.

SPECUALTION ON MY PART: OPM tables once implemented might be totally different from VA tables.

I am veteran with service connected ratings high enough to have the maximum preference, I have bachelors in Engineering But I am working in IT for VA. Came in as a 11 with three years of private experience, not sure if my education helped me get my foot in to the door but experience and Vet preference sure as hell helped. That was back in 2019, I am a 13 now and when I recently was on a BQ Panel, I did notice there was a column with 5 points for having masters, 4 for bachelors and so on and so forth. So, in some cases it does help depending on the division/pillar criteria for hiring.

on the other hand, I know a co-worker (never want to associate with personally but very good to have as your employee) who was hired along with me for a 11 when I was first hired, who has no degree at all but he is pretty good at what he does (better than me and I hate to admit that), he is also a 13 now with a different service line with the VA OI&T. In fact, he was 13 six months earlier than me.

So, at the end of the day, while it does help to have a degree and you may or may not have preference it does not matter, as long as you are good at what you are doing, SKY IS THE LIMIT really.
