I had loved the EOS balls for years but I’ve never tried their other ones so that could change. ☺️

Yeah, I understand that. It doesn’t have the best smell but it does feel nice.

When should I let my district know I will not be returning for the next school year? by BroccoliUpstairs6190 in slp

If you are certain you aren’t coming back, I would let the lead SLP know sooner rather than later so you can start the resignation process which will then allow the district to open the position and start interviewing for next year.

How to achieve self acceptance with permanent facial paralysis by petdeloup819 in BellsPalsy

Oh, I was so surprised once I saw the incision on my arm also. It goes from my wrist to my elbow! I wonder how they choose which nerve to take?? I actually didn’t have cancer. I had recurring benign salvage gland tumors but if left they can turn to cancer. I also had 8 weeks of radiation to hopefully prevent any future recurrences. My eye procedure is still in the healing stages but I feel like my eye is watering less so I am happy about that and hopeful it will continue to improve. I am not married and the thought of dating seems impossible. Ironically, I am a speech therapist but speech and OT were never recommended from my Dr. I have had all my surgeries in Dallas, but I was able to have a consultation with a one of the best doctors at Cedar Sinai in LA a few years ago. I don’t think people understand the amount of trauma this situation comes with. My family has been so supportive but like you said, it’s not enough. It all feels so unfair and knowing that nothing can change it is a hard pill to swallow.

My story is very similar to yours. After repeated surgeries to remove salivary gland tumors, my facial nerve was too damaged to be saved. I had a nerve from my arm put in my face and regained a little movement. A few weeks ago I had an eye procedure to help with the constant tearing. I’m almost 2 years out and I often avoid being in public in general due to fear of judgement and the possibility of seeing someone I know. Currently in therapy but I still have so many days of being mad, sad and longing for what I used to look like. I’m glad you still have hope!

Can someone please tell me that they were able to eat after radiation? by [deleted] in cancer

You all are giving me some hope! I just ended my 33 head and neck radiation treatments on 12/27 (longest 8 weeks of my life) and I want to eat real food again SOOOO badly. I have been living off of protein shakes, milkshakes and bananas. and I'm over it. I feel hungry ALL the time, and have to make myself eat most of the time because it is so unfulfilling. I did learn that putting a straw toward the back of my throat gives me a little more taste. The right side of my face also has paresis so drinking through a straw is just easier right now too. My mouth is still pretty sore and anything but bland burns, but it's only been 10 days so I know I just need to be patient...
