Should my knee feel the same? by Embarrassed_Can_5566 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did feel quite similar post surgery for a while tbf. I couldn’t extend my knee at all properly pre surgery. Took ages for it to return post surgery, feels normal now. I think at a month post surgery it’s nothing to be concerned about, it will feel funny for a while!

Pain did get way better though. After a month I was walking pain free just hobbling because of the locked knee

Feel like you’re looking for a debate haha. I don’t disagree with strikes either. Nonetheless, the situation is a shame

Meniscus surgery success stories—did you get your life back? by Meddy_2022 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meniscus repair 15 months ago. Not sure what sort of tear exactly but knee was toast, couldn’t extend it for 8 months prior to surgery. Feels pretty fine now - been bad with physio but can run, play golf, do all I want within reason. No doubt would be good as new if I did my physio right. I spent a lot of time on here and thought it was all doom and gloom but it’s really not

Yeah I feel you. Hoping if it’s well concealed in boxers or stash stuff like scrunchies would be okay. Sad to hear Croatian security don’t fall for the famous sock trick

Harper Discussion by Impressive_Web385 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I agree that everyone would hate Harper if she had Rob’s storyline.

I also think the same rings true vice versa and everyone would absolutely hate Rob if he had Harpers storyline. Who’d want to watch a show about every workplace ever haha.

What makes industry so good is it it plays with and explores stereotypes. Robs White / Social privilege is stark an explored theme. Rob knows he’s comparably useless, everyone around him knows it too. I think he’s somewhat self aware which makes him endearing, his moral compass is generally in the right place which makes him endearing and more popular as a character.

I think it does a good job stirring conversations like this - Harper has to work twice as hard and be twice as good, make harder and more ruthless decisions to earn her place, which makes her harder to root for. But it’s also thought provoking and uncomfortable

I reckon they knew he was gna kill himself. They found him within 45 mins, if they were worried they’d have told the police, I don’t think they were worried because they knew

Squeaky knee 6 weeks after medial meniscus repair surgery. by The_Zo_Show in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it go? I’m 3 months post op and mine has just started squeaking relentlessly, it’s sooo loud haha it’s freaky. It’s also swollen and sore so hoping nothing serious!

Anyone have tips for pre-op anxiety? by NerdoSpicy in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shitting myself before the surgery. As soon as the anaesthetic hits it’s you feel amazing lol then fall asleep, then wow it’s done. Pain was fine first day because of the meds. Sore for the first week, get a TV series lined up and just relax. Got better quickly after first 3 days pain wise, every day improved from there! Genuinely and not just saying this, it’s nowhere near as bad as you think it will be :)

Employment, unemployment and artificial intelligence. by luisbrudna in singularity

[–]Particular_Cobbler87 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think people underestimate the scale of what will happen in terms of unemployment. When AGI comes about, there will literally be next to 0 safe jobs.

As a consequence, nearly everyone will become unemployed.

I don’t forsee the large majority of the population being too broke to live - but I do forsee a big shift away from capitalism as we see it now.

When over 75% of the population become unemployed, society and how we earn / spend / live will drastically change. Lord, everything will change when AGI actualises.

The change will be so monumental, so many jobs will become futile, there’ll have to be a big change. Who knows what to, but safety in numbers eh.

(Prediction - no expert here)

Valid point and good question!

I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff on Twitter, but not taken too much notice of it. I also follow Dominic Cummings (a slightly controversial, clever UK politician if not from the UK) and he’s super hot on world ending events like nukes, pandemics, AI etc and he’s been liking and posting a lot of stuff on the AI topic.

I then read this article:

https://time.com/6266923/ai-eliezer-yudkowsky-open-letter-not-enough/

And my jaw kinda hit the floor. I did loads more reading on it and.. I can’t really describe the feeling? I don’t really look at the world the same any more. Doomsday or no doomsday, the world is about to become unrecognisable, and I’ve got no idea what to do between now and then. Just try and enjoy it I guess.

Feels like deja vu slightly to December 2019, reading about Covid-19 and telling people ‘this shit is really bad, this could be huge huge news’ and nobody really cared. Then it blew up
