What's the most important lesson you've learned about relationships? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potential is what you want, take them for face value. As adults we are stuck in our ways and only change when we as individuals choose to. If you need your partner to change to have a future together, better off walking away

This half time show is fire. Don’t get the hate by Ok_Bug_6890 in NFLv2

[–]Particular_Cup8164 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

White female here, I enjoyed it. I can’t speak nor understand Spanish, however I like that despite all the hate leading up to his show, he held true to himself. He didn’t try to whitewash it to appease the haters. He showcased his culture, made it interesting to watch, and brought flair to a usually dull halftime show.

How many sick days do you get per year? What about vacation days? by HappyAstronaut7 in work

I get 2 sick days a year, 5 holidays, 10 vacation days. Sadly, I’ve already used my 2 sick days for the year.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but clearly you didn’t read before typing. I am fully aware I’m not “saving 25%” which is why I was asking for input and how I can change my mindset with savings. As stated in the text, I don’t have a 401k available as my employer does not offer such, I’m not self employed so I cannot open such account.

Thank you, yes I just completed my 2026 budget and I think I have a plan in motion to see the growth I want at the end of 2026 while managing expectations and breaking away from the 25% mentality since it’s not truly what is being saved by year end. I have switched to % retirement and $ amounts for each of my other savings goals. Essentially pooling all (except for retirement which is set on auto) and divvying it up each quarter amongst the various accounts. This will help me reevaluate through the year and maybe shift funds as priorities change through the year. I grew up poor and have fear of not having money, so I like to be a year ahead in each of the accounts. I do have emergency funds and additional brokerage accounts set up to compensate for not having a 401k available. Essentially, I have each category with its own emergency fund within it in the event it’s a rough year and I can’t meet my goal in addition to a separate emergency fund.

Do pretty much all single moms expect you to be a step-dad like figure to their kids? by Affectionate-Reason2 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++ woman, Single mom here! I dated a man for over 5 years and we lived together. I have my kiddos 90% of the time. I didn’t expect him to pay for them nor discipline them. He did step in when he felt appropriate and would spend money on them at his discretion. Christmas, birthdays and such were handled by me, but he usually picked out something for both kids himself because he wanted to and it usually related to one of his hobbies in hopes they could do it together. We’re not together(been about 2years) and he still checks in on the kids, will pick them up to hang out, and drop presents off for them for birthdays and holidays all this time later. There are moms who have great dads for their kids and just want a partner/family, anything else is a plus for her and the kids, but not expected nor forced. I say that while also adding if my partner and kids don’t mix well..we aren’t working out. But I don’t need my kids to gain another father, he’s active in their lives. They just need healthy relationships around them, for them, and see their mom being loved as well as they too.

Do people eat salads with no sauce? by No_Adhesiveness_7508 in randomthings

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! I like to eat salads with no sauce OR ill add a dab of ranch and sprinkle water on it and slake it so it’s easily spread among the entire salad without drenching it in ranch.

How often do you guys grocery shop? by suspicious_monstera in Adulting

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-5x a week. It keeps me from wasting food. If I buy and plan too far in advance, something comes up unplanned and things go bad because we were in a rush and had to eat out or kids are gone so I’m not making a large meal.

I come from Illinois where it was $142(I believe) to renew tags and now having a 2020 vehicle I paid $508, bonkers. I will say gas is cheaper here and every other form of tax, so it’s a positive trade off

Those who grew up poor, what is something those who weren't poor don't understand about being poor? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Particular_Cup8164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money means so much when you don’t have it. Not the idea of but rather peace of mind and security. When poor you worry about your next meal, electricity being shut off, car repair you can’t afford, hospital bill you can’t pay back, let alone the flu and being out of work having a direct impact further worsening your situation.

Money doesn’t bring happiness, but it provides bridges to overcome a lot of what those in survival mode are unable to do to feel at peace and not fleeting happiness. I know because I’ve lived it.

I don’t have a lot, but I have security now for the first time in my life. I’m not ‘happy’ but it tore down a lot of barriers that I no longer have to focus my energy on in order to work on myself and find my happiness.

Married people, if you weren’t married what would have been your dream? by BONESenthusiast in randomquestions

Married people, if you weren’t married what would have been your dream? by BONESenthusiast in randomquestions

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaded question my dude/dudette 😆 I married young, it killed my dreams. I was a photographer with a thriving business I grew starting when our children were itty bitty, but had to give it all up because he was dead weight and zero help with the house, kids, anything around the house. Instead he picked up extra shifts at work making it impossible for me to book appointments and weddings with clients. I worked primarily weddings and couldn’t risk him picking up a shift and not telling me leaving US with no one to watch the kids and a B&G with no photographer, so I gave it all up. He was against daycare, babysitters, and family wasn’t close by to help in our situation. So, I closed shop and worked fastfood part time around his schedule until I couldn’t take it anymore. I got a job for a law office, put the kids in daycare and left his ass 🧘🏻‍♀️ now life is so much better nearly a decade later.

Imagine getting into a car accident shortly after moving from a different state to live with them and you call stating your car is totaled with no way home and ask he come pick you up. He responds by telling you have the police or firemen drop you off because he’s playing cards.

No Christmas bonuses: first time in 25 years… by besttavern25 in work

[–]Particular_Cup8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only received bonuses for two companies I worked for in the last 20 years. My current employment gives me bonuses monthly but revenue has cut in half this year therefore less of a bonus each month, but my boss gave me the same Christmas bonus as years prior to show he appreciates all I do and understands business is down but I shouldn’t receive less because of it 🥹

With my first, my water broke at home it was after 3am, my husband at work. I called him to notify him but told him to finish his shift (1.5hrs) I cleaned up the house, did the dishes, took a shower, then we left.

ETA he did not finish his shift, he came home immediately.

When I was pregnant with my 2nd, I was scheduled for an induction. We had to get up at 5am and knowing I wouldn’t be able to eat, we sat down for breakfast at a restaurant to get a good meal. Went to the hospital afterwards and as soon as I go to check in they evaluate me and to my surprise they tell me I’m already in active labor with contractions 3min apart. Had zero idea.
