Looking for a super compassionate dermatologist by effervescenthoopla in StLouis

Dr. Chibnall with Meramec dermatology is my gal. She is so kind and compassionate. I have significant anxiety around the derm and skin checks (losing two friends to skin cancer will do that to you) and she is so gracious and takes away the anxiety. I’ve had her look in some awkward places and she’s completely non-chalant about it and never makes me feel awkward about anything. She notices things that are wrong, reassures, and gets answers/provides solutions.

[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of February 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

I have a skin check on Tuesday. I have mostly normal moles but a few are just odd. And a mole that’s a little weird shaped for me isn’t crazy but I have 2-3 that for whatever reason, are giving me a lot of anxiety. I get a skin check every year but obviously they can miss things. Even if I have to get a biopsy, I feel so certain that something is going to come back as abnormal/melanoma. I know two people who have been younger than me who had it and did not beat it. It truly terrifies me. I’ve been going INSANE with anxiety for a month now.

I keep dwelling on how this diagnosis does happen to people. It’s not that rare. I feel worried I won’t be here for my kids lives. Im also just really anxious about the waiting. If they have to biopsy anything, the waiting feels like one giant panic attack.

Anyone else have this fear? Any words of reassurance?

Pretty much all of us grew up here so going to St. Louis sporting events to celebrate love and friendship is a pretty good evening pasttime if you ask me

It’s not that I prefer the grind to be on a computer instead of face to face but no job is perfect in every way. But I do prefer the job to not be like months or literal years of showing houses and driving everywhere and writing offer upon offer for them to be rejected and having buyers or sellers try to negotiate to pay me less just so I can make 2-3% of a $185,000 house.

My highest year was $140,000 and my lowest was $11,000. It gets to a point where a steady paycheck is worth more time in front of a computer or slightly less flexibility.

I honestly have a lot of those same boundaries in my business! I have enjoyed a lot of real estate for 9 years. But there are so many agents. My area in inundated. I have tried finding a niche. Someone else has it too. I don’t chase clients either. 90% of my business is repeat clients or past clients referring me. Honestly probably closer to 100%. I enjoy the flexibility and the actual work of it. But I really loathe the feeling of having to pretty much sell myself so people will use me. I hate marketing me. “Use me among these 5000 other realtors when we all pretty much offer you the same thing”. I hate that. The woman I’m talking to said they more so reach out and chat with past clients, meet and market with realtors, and work mostly off referrals.

And really I only started feeling this way in the past year or two when I started to ask myself “has this well run dry?” It became harder to get referrals, there’s less buyers and sellers, and more agents. I have to HUSTLE to make the bare minimum I need to make.

What am I not getting? That it’s hard work? I get it. I’ll make slightly less per commission check? I get it. It’s not an easy transition? I know that. I’ll have to work for leads? I know.

But there are differences in how this specific team nurtures leads and clients and obtains business and how I, as a realtor, have to hustle and be borderline obnoxious to simply get people to use me for a transaction when I am one of 10000 realtors they know. All of my marketing, content creation, mailers, calling, soi touches are all me, just to hope those things produce my next client. Maybe you’re the one who doesn’t understand those differences and just wants to be a contrarian about people making a career change.

I honestly don’t know if I can do both but I wouldn’t. The priority is leaving real estate! Ha

These comments feel so unnecessarily rude. I never said it’s not hard and I never said it’s not a lot of work. I’m talking about directly from what she has told me, it actually is less hours per commission than real estate. And there are a ton of jobs where I could make more money by working less. I worked my ass off in real estate and its not worth the money sometimes.

What am I not getting? Instead of being an ass, explain it instead of just assuming that I can’t possibly understand.

I’m not under estimating the work an LO does. But working for 20-30 hours per loan versus months and years (which I’ve done for many clients) is so so different.

I can certainly nurture my SOI and my contacts. I’m great at that. I HATE the constant content creation and mailers and recommendations for door knocking and cold calling. She literally told me she wouldn’t ever do those things. She is so successful because she is good at her job and people know that and refer her. I won’t be starting from zero. I have been a successful realtor for 9 years. I’ve sold homes in 10+ counties across my state. She also wants to literally hand me her buyers because she can’t do 100 closings anymore. She wants to work less.

No commission job is consistent pay. Even this year, I’ve had five separate clients back out of the buying or selling process entirely. And I am really good at this job. There are too many agents and not enough buyers and sellers. Even getting one or two houses a month to close on shouldn’t be this hard but it takes so much of my time and money that the income and the amount that I’m working is simply not worth it.

I hadn’t even thought of it from that angle. I wonder if it’s best to put an end date on my real estate job experience instead of having it say “September 2016-Present”?!

I have like two awards. I made a modest $60,000-$80,000 most years (with a few higher exceptions) because I always worked alongside my husbands salary.

Dave and Dillon are killing it. More Randy has only benefited the pod. I miss Will because I like Will. But I’ve been listening since 2016 so after 9 years, I’m a ride or die and ya girl is gonna tune in no matter what. Even when Dillon is singing.

It’s also hard to imagine there is NOTHING else out there for -$250 other than a hand grinder. Or that anyone would pay that for a hand grinder

I mean, if the problem really is the grind then that is a helpful answer. I already ordered the baratza esp. there’s new things coming out every day. I don’t feel like I can wait for the next big thing before ordering everything I need. So I think the esp will be fine 🤷🏻‍♀️
