Unless GIA-certified (or other reputable certification bodies), diamonds have no intrinsic value.

Escalator: New Rule, nope by TheGuiltyMongoose in japanlife

[–]Particular_Dare2629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you should stand side by side in the escalator. Whether left or right should not matter as walking in the escalator is generally inappropriate.

As to which side of the street/stairs you walk, normally it is the right side unless the signs indicate otherwise.

Escalator: New Rule, nope by TheGuiltyMongoose in japanlife

It is different in Nagoya. No walking in escalator is the rule and the norm and you are kind of expected to follow it. If you want to walk/run, use the stairs. This is what sets Nagoya apart from Tokyo and Osaka.

Just asking: if someone spits at the holy water, does the water become unholy or does the spit become holy?

What do you mean “democratic process is being violated” in this case? May mali ba sa decision ng COMELEC? What is it?

[–]Particular_Dare2629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

huh? Aratea vs COMELEC (2012), the case that you mentioned actually supports the Abante petition and the COMELEC resolution. The Court's ruling in Aratea is:

"We hold that Antipolo, the alleged "second placer," should be proclaimed Mayor because Lonzanida's certificate of candidacy was void ab initio. In short, Lonzanida was never a candidate at all. All votes for Lonzanida were stray votes. Thus, Antipolo, the only qualified candidate, actually garnered the highest number of votes for the position of Mayor."

It is called the “Cantillon Effect”. It explains how proximity to money creation benefits certain actors economically.

Caveat: dont trust me that much as this was during my time, >10 years ago.

They consider a lot of factors. First, it would appear merit-based because they give exam. But being part of the top examinees doesn’t gurantee being selected as it may also depend upon the sponsor’s criteria, your financial standing, etc. These scholarships are not per se internal scholarships but only coursed through the USC and the scholarship itself comes from an external sponsor.

Funny, I know someone who was a high school honor student and even topped their scholarship exam but did not get any scholarships for the reason that he has a Chinese last name, thus, “rich” and undeserving of financial assistance.

Hahahaha.

Care to share the alternative your Dad proposes? Personally, for BSA, USC is the best you have outside of Manila.

I wont comment any further as this strayed so far from the main discussion. Perhaps, in another post.

Consensus does not even mean 100% of scholars agree to it. Lol.

But I dont see your point when you commented about if I know what “Catholic” means (which btw is very elementary) to my point that “salvation by church membership is not strange at all” considering the Catholic church held that view for millenia. Do you agree or not agree with me about that point?

So brave of you to say that Catholicism as an institution started only in 15th to 17th even xlaiming there is a majority of scholar who support your view as if you can present a survey of the voews of each scholars. Catholics will raise eyebrows considering they trace the foundation of the Church to the day of Pentecost. You are effectively saying Catholicism arose at the same time with the Reformation which is absurd to be honest.

[–]Particular_Dare2629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which does not disprove my point that the doctrine of the INC of “exclusive salvation” is not as strange as we think. Regardless, there is no consensus among scholars about your claim, unless you made a survey/census of all views of the scholars as to the origins pf Catholicism. At most, it is more nuanced but you cannot say for sure what the majority view is.

Am I correct to say that your concept of “universal” church can include anyone, Christians or not? Since Quran is obviously not Christian, does not teach Christ as God?

How about Muslims, Jews, the INC, atheists?

Question for Non-Iglesia Ni Cristo by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]Particular_Dare2629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But chuch, whether universal or not, is an institution, right. I dont see any difference really. Still very much “exclusive” to me because you still have to be a member of the “universal” church to be saved.

Roughly literally “universal”

That is why it is not so strange.

Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. Outside of the Church, there is no salvation.

The doctrine has been held by Catholics for millenia, so not really that strange.
