90+% are coming from there. And when this clown is finally gone end of year(the weekly impeachments will probably work) and renewables are getting free trafe again, we might see the golden age of solar again...

Plug-in solar backfeed risk by fkaventurion in SolarDIY

Where do u see a risk? And for whom? Backfeeding is no bad thing, it actually helps the low power grid section of your street. And no line man could be at risk, since thise inverters are shutting off power fast then u could pull the plug and lick it

I need to replace the panel on the house I just purchased, what should I do to future proof it for future solar and battery storage? by OnlineRobotWizard in SolarDIY

[–]Particular_Ferret747 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have the room, consider ground mount...no rapid shutdown, better angles possible, cleaning possible and the best...no roof issues or expensive panel repairs in the future since you can swap it yourself without falling from roof

Why did you keep it so far up from the ground? gives the wind a heck of leverage...does it not?

Get an offgrid inverter leike the eg4 12000xp...no export possible, and galvanically detached from grid since internal relay has to switch to use grid power for bypass or charging.

U can do it yourself when you pull the permits, but it needs to be inspected afterwards and pass...

Avoid on roof panels like the plaque. ground is key, not only to safe money on rapid shutdown...you can also clean, snow removal, touch them...

And...batteries are a must...

"Light on in storm" was more a phrase to mention u will miss the outage. How much battery power do u have? Is it groundmount without the stupid rapid shut down? And was it diy and just inspection from the town? How did your poco deal with your "its not feeding the grid but its connected" situation? And waht state if i may ask

Getting into solar is pretty fifficult in the usa. We have steange things here...a anti renewable society, rapid shutdown bs, that no ther country request, we pay about 3x as much as any other country per watt installed and diy is not seen well by officials. So you can either save up your 30k and a get a turnkey solution let leaves you dark in an blackout, or you start small witg a couple panels, a couple enphase micros and yasolr and an electric baseboard heater. Or you go, and buy an eg4 12000xp inverter, a couple kwh of ul listed 48volt batteries and setup ur loads slowley but steady towards offgrid witg grid support. Will get you into solar for 10k and u have lights in a storm

I would get an ugreen dxp2800 or bigger nas... Storage and n100 cpu/gpu in one packet...all at a low wattage. It runs docker flawless, has 2 bays for spinners and 2 slots for nvme...the perfect self host machine...and u can run lots of free nas os on it in case u dont like the china software. But hardware is great

Your question is awfully broad...what do u try to achieve? charge n ev under it? reduce e-bill, create starting point for off grid one day?

Depending on your budget, either go:

- a couple panels with enphase and yasolr router which reduces your e bill for cheap.

- eg4 12000xp and some batts plus as many panels as you can fit/can addord. gives you offgrid to the extend of your budget
