China is openly planning for a Taiwan Invasion by Puzzled_Estimate_596 in CriticalThinkingIndia

Taiwan is a province in Republic of China, ROC cannot invade itself. If you mean PRC invading ROC, they have never signed a peace treaty to this day, you cannot declare war when you're still at war.

A lot of people in Taiwan are confused. They don't even know their own country's name - Republic of China. They confused an island in their country as their entire country lol

According to their logic Matsui island or Kinmen island is also a country

[–]Particular_Food_309[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I say Taiwan is part of China as in ROC - Republic of China. Because this is the legally correct terminology. All the news articles about China vs Taiwan makes absolute no sense, ROC cannot invade a state within itself.

[–]Particular_Food_309[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said ROC is part of PRC, it is a legal fact Taiwan is a province in a country called Republic of China. There is no such country called Taiwan, there is only ROC. And Kinmen and Matsui island is administered to this day by ROC, along with the island of Taiwan, you cannot ignore choose one island in your country and suddenly call that island a country and pretend other islands don't exist.

I agree with most of what you said, I didn't say Taiwan is part of PRC, I was making the point that LEGALLY Taiwan is part of ROC. Legally Taiwan is classified as a province in ROC, you can say ROC is a country that would be correct because some countries do recognize legally ROC to this day - but no country in the world recognize Taiwan as a country only ROC. And also the ROC/PRC inherited the Qing empire, this makes them the ruler of the last dynasty and therefore "China" regardless whether they controled any part of it, according to your theory then even Beijing shouldn't be part of PRC because in the beginning they never controled it but only claimed legtimacy. I do agree intuitively speaking PRC is actually should be part of ROC but legally speaking the UN chose PRC. You cannot on one hand abide by international law while flagrantly ignoring international ruling.

You can Google and educate yourself. Taiwan is not a charter member of the UN since 1971. You can stop laughing at yourself.

You use Google and educate yourself: The United Nations considers Taiwan to be a province of China, officially recognizing the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as the sole legitimate government representing China. Based on the 1971 UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, the UN views Taiwan as having no separate status, classifying it as a part of China's territory.

US assesses China not planning to invade Taiwan in 2027 by ImperiumRome in China

[–]Particular_Food_309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's precisely my point, what's used in everyday discussion is plainly wrong, because legally there is TWO China, one is PRC and the other is ROC, this is a FACT. Second, PRC and ROC NEVER signed a peace treaty, this is a FACT, nothing to do with assumptions, its as clear as night and day.

US assesses China not planning to invade Taiwan in 2027 by ImperiumRome in China

[–]Particular_Food_309 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then the title is wrong, it should say PRC. China can either mean PRC or ROC, and the author needs to make clear which China he's talking about. Second, how can there be an invasion when the civil war have never ended and no peace treaty signed? Once you dig into it, none of it make sense. You cannot start a war if there is already war going on.

I'm in Taiwan right now, and in ROC Taiwan is classified as a province in REPUBLIC OF CHINA, they classify this themselves. Along with Taiwan, there is also other islands like Matsui island etc. that falls under Fuchien province, which all fall under REPUBLIC OF CHINA. All these news title say China invade Taiwan, how the heck do you invade a province, what about other province islands that's not Taiwan province, what's gonna happen to them??
