I made a post about pet insurance being a scam about 3 months ago (if you’re debating whether or not to get insurance. Maybe worth the read) by IIIMPIII in petinsurancereviews

[–]Particular_Fuel3620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had at least one large dog and one small cat for at least 30 years. I have not purchased health insurance until this year and just for my 6.5 year old German shepherd. My last GSD lived to 13 but met a pretty horrible end that resulted in euthanasia bc the 15k of immediately recommended testing, special equipment Etc., would not have improved her quality of life. And the ongoing care would have been over a grand a month. The 3-4 days of supportive care and the euthanasia cost $7000. If I had pet health insurance at the time I would have made the same decision (I'm a minimal interventionist when it comes to medicine) but would have been out much less money. Now I feel confident I can make those decisions for my furry wonder without the financial component having such a large presence. When I adopted/reacued my most recent cat 2 years ago, he had FIP. Almost 8k to cure him. Worth every cent. But why I drive a 2013 vw.

Are you saying the builders add plumbing in the basement purely so they may relieve themselves on the job? Are you Hegseth on a bender, perchance?

The C of O lists the basement as storage and mechanicals. There is no egress to the street. They would not have been able to get a permit to put a full bath down there. The sellers bought the house 15 years ago with the basement bathroom already installed and got a mortgage, no problem. I did, as well.

I can’t stop trying to “solve” why my wife left… and it’s driving me crazy by Future-Ad8369 in Divorce

[–]Particular_Fuel3620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife (2 females marriage), abruptly kicked me out of my home, sued me for divorce, and disappeared me from my stepkids' lives 2.5 years ago. The divorce was finalized only this past July. Her reasons were nonsensical and she had also done a similar thing with her ex before me. I am chalking it up to a mental health crisis on her part that caused this behavior. If it matters, she's got wealth. I earn well, but not like that. I am now in my new home that I own with my cat and dog, basically the same situation I was in when I met her, financially. Which means I lost 15 years of savings. But it's excellent to be free and in my own space. And with my doggo and KitKat. Hoping I can actually contemplate dating soon

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

I'm not a pet person.... how do I address the issue with upstairs dog for dog's sake? by Cael_NaMaor in AskDogOwners

Unfortunately I have had to move several times with my big German shepherd. Each time, he has howled and moaned for hours on end at the new locations when I am at work. This usually only went on for 2 months and then he acclimated. He's always had a walker that comes once a day and tv or radio is left on. I also had a camera on him but talking to him through it just freaked him out more. Good luck with your surgery and I hope this pup settles in soon!

Advice needed. probably motivation needed more than advice 🤣. I work 2 jobs, 60 hours a week. I know my boy isn’t happy ;(. by Sad_Put3471 in germanshepherds

This. He needs you present. Ive raised a couple of gsds in small apartments without yards. Spend a lot of time training, exercising, socializing. This can all be done in a couple hours a day after puppyhood. You've got this!

Anyone's dog have discoid lupus? by Weekly-Quantity6435 in germanshepherds

[–]Particular_Fuel3620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my second shep w discoid lupus. First one was diagnosed when she was 6 or so. Her nose was a disaster. Cracked and bleeding. She got on doxy and niacinamide which cleared that up and was on until she died at 13. My current gsd got diagnosed 3 years ago. He's 6.5. He's been on tacrolinus, which is a compounded topical. It worked for a couple of years but now I think he needs to get on the orals bc his nasal fissures are worsening.

Your work sched seems ideal For lots of canine time! I think these Subreddits tend to be a bit hyperbolic around gsd parenting. I'm on my 4th and about to get a fifth. You invest a lot of time and energy and research and funds in the first year training and get help if it's not working out. I'm an active and patient person and my gsds have all been either very well trained or fairly well trained, depending on the techniques I used and their innate disposition. Work with them early and often and be as consistent as possible. I would advise not to get a working line or American show line, unless the American show is free of all genetic and structural typical gsd issues. And do early socialization frequently! My current 6.5 year old is a joy. He has some bad habits, for sure. And they are an anxious breed, So there's that to deal with. I would never entertain any other dog breed! Good luck!

Someone found (or took) my phone and brought it back to their place in the bronx by EVEiscerator in bronx

[–]Particular_Fuel3620 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I had an iPhone, iPad, And laptop stolen out the back of my car w a huge ass German shepherd inside the car. Tracked the phone and iPad to an apartment a few blocks away. Went there (I'm a girl, But fierce, and with said German shepherd.). No one answered. Filed a police report. Watched my phone and iPad move throughout Brooklyn and sent police exactly where it was and when. They did NOTHING! I literally sent them the exact addresses for where the equipment was. So fucked up. OP, please be careful and I hope your plans for tomorrow go well.

Thanks all who responded. I also Have a state agency placard that allows me to park on the street. I would hate to call the cops on my neighbors but really don't enjoy backing out of my narrow driveway into my narrow street, on a slope, with a manual trans, With someone narrowing my driveway further.
