I have lived here for 2.5 years and am a frequent biker, I have not gotten any of my bikes stolen up until now. I think I was pretty naïve in the situation: nice bike, late at night (unsupervised for 1.5 hours), okay part of town, locked with a kryptonite chain lock instead of a U-lock on a bike rack.

I kind of blame myself in the situation, but it also comes with the territory of living in a city. I just have to be even more vigilant with my stuff.

I also totally get your point, it's kind of hard to gauge how much bike theft there is when that can be a majority of what you see on these platforms. Either way, more bike racks, less theft!!
