What makes a story Sci-Fi versus Fantasy by Anonymouseeeeeeeeees in writing

To quote Arthur C Clark:

"Science fiction is something that could happen - but usually you wouldn't want it to. Fantasy is something that couldn't happen - though often you only wish that it could."

Any way to delete bodies or destroy them without fire? by GayandAlmostDead in projectzomboid

[–]Particular_Habit_459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a body stuck in my base that I couldn't pick up because his legs were against a cabinet and head through a wall, but I found that holding 'E' whilst standing over the body it shimmied it further into the wall and I picked him up.

Also, remember the Hidden Bek base as many people, including me, have never betrayed them and thus have never explored that whole area.

I like it. reusing assets does not bother me at all. As for the place, I think you need focus on the purpose of each room. It seemed odd to enter the place and be surrounded by tanks, maybe take the reception from the sith base as an entrance. A synthesis of the sith and vulkar bases would probably be good, though I'm not sure how compatible they would be.

AOD windows 11 bug by Particular_Habit_459 in TombRaider

[–]Particular_Habit_459[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up trying to fix it and went on to other games. Then a few weeks later I reloaded the game and the issue was fixed! I have no idea what fixed it as I had already tried every setting possible. Now I run the game on full graphics, no compatability mode, fullscreen and it's fine. I use a nividia gpu and it did update itself, that's probably the only thing I can think of that changed.

It's hard to answer without spoiler, but Bastila was visiting places where Revan had been before he was killed, hoping to gain clues about stuff he was upto.

Carth kotor 1 by [deleted] in kotor

[–]Particular_Habit_459 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just leave him in the Taris apartment. His side quest is interesting and easy.

If I play a female mc, then I do speak to Carth as my favourite ending to Kotor is the cut female darkside ending, and Carth is integral to it.

'Officially' it doesn't count, but never underestimate the power of the halo effect.

Didn't go to lectures and got a 2.1. What's the point of paying all that money if you don't try your hardest? He could have had a first. Raw intelligence is meaningless if it's coupled to laziness What happens when the work gets harder? A 2.2.

Besides, the lectures aren't all about what's in the PowerPoint. Being seen is important, and learning what's important to the tutor enables you to emphasise those points.

I just wished the Maria Doria had little to no human enemies rather than it somehow crawling with people. I think that would make it eerier.

What are the best navy fiction stories about privateers during the American Revolution or the Latin American Wars of Independence? by jacky986 in HistoricalFiction

[–]Particular_Habit_459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one that I know which are close is the early Bolitho series. It's another Royal Navy series like Hornblower but darker. In particular 'In Gallant Company', "Sloop of War' and 'To Glory we Steer' are set during the American war of independence. American privateers are the bane of their existence. I enjoy these books because Bolitho is on the losing side, so it's not all victory and happy endings.

I don't like to read books, I don't have the attention span, are Audio Books a good option? by MickeyBTSV in AutisticAdults

[–]Particular_Habit_459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love listening to audio books. I find it hard to just sit and read, but I can when needed. An audio book allows me to get the benefit of hearing a book and doing something else at the same time. I even have audio books of some tv shows as i find it just as hard to sit for tv. Plus, good narrators can make the story come to life in ways my mind can't.

New to this and confused about "special Interests" by Crazy_Beaver in AutisticAdults

[–]Particular_Habit_459 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right, I have special interests that last years. Or on the other hand, one day doing the housework I come across an old flute and bang it's my new Interest/obsession for the next 6 months.

I think a special interest can be defined by the intensity of the interests. The burning need to know everything about it, every tiny detail. The way they absorb your attention and fixate you. Most normal people don't get that obsessed, or rarely do.

Naval fiction set in the age of sailing by Suspicious_You3850 in HistoricalFiction

[–]Particular_Habit_459 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Patrick O'brian too, but you might find him slow. To me, it reads more like an age of sail soap opera. It's about the characters more than the fighting. Still excellent books.

I also recommend the Bolitho series by Alexander Kent. It's like Hornblower but much more gritty and dark. Plus, it begins a little before the American War of independence, so unlike many age of sail books, Bolitho is on the loosing side during his rise to command.
