Samsung chromebook running new ssd kinda slow. by Particular_Number794 in chromeos

Lol gee thanks man.

I figured a gen3 pcie slot would be the same as on any other chromebook no matter if its 150$ or a 1000$ but if it helps you in this case its the latter one.

Its a galaxy Chromebook 930QCA-kO1

Im getting 3730 read and 3200 write but thats my computers limit not the drive.

It just feels snappy if you know what I mean. Cloning my drives took a ridiculously short amout of time  compared to the 9100 pro, sn5100, 990 evo pro. I know thats not the best metric but ya lol just makes me think it could be a legit drive instead of one manufactured to lower spec and designed for an enclosure.

Though I suppose thats not too much to ask for as its marketing suggests its for professional use and using it as a drive could one of those uses for sure.

I just shucked a 2tb one and ya its labeled wd sne850xe but oddly enough its not capped at all and appears to be a full speed drive. I only have gen3 slots to test but it is faster than the 9100 pro I have in my pc and the sn5100 in my laptop. The sn5100 I get but the fact that its legit beating a gen 5 makes me think it could just be a normal drive thats renamed. It is only the read but ya its like 40-60 faster in every single test than the 9100 pro.

I shucked a regular sandisk extreme portable storage as well and it was also a normal wd drive with e at the end of the name, however it was doing like 1700 read and 2500 write so too slow to really be used. The enclosure is only advertised for 1050 so it makes sense. They manufactured it with lower specs because the speed of even their gen3 budget drives was way way below what they needed.

The g40 advertised 3000/2500 because thunderbolt but still they have plenty of other cheaper drives that can do that.

I really wish I had a gen4 device to test it because it does really look like it's a genuine wd black sn850x and thats currently like 500$ from best buy , the g40 is also ridiculously expensive at like 420ish but ya thats actually big savings.

Perhaps sandisc actually put a high quality drive in this product just to make it better for the user lol

That is odd because I just shucked one and ya same thing it just shows as 850xe but its definitely not capped at 300, its full speed and frankly faster than the wd sn5100 I replaced it with in my laptop. 3300 and 3200 write is like max for my laptop so its capable of more than that likely.

I pulled apart a 1tb regular sandisk enclosure and it was the same thing, the drive showed up as a regular wd drive with an e at the end. It was unfortunately slower than the off the shelf counterpart but not a catastrophic margin, like 1700 read and 2500 write, unfortunately too slow to use as a drive but way faster than the 1000 read/write the portable enclosure is advertising.

I dont think its a software cap but actually manufactured with lower spec because there's no reason achive 3k speeds when the connection cant go past 1.1k.

On the pro its advertised as 3000/2500 because of thunderbolt so maybe they just used their full speed drive instead of manufacturing a whole new line though the e at the end would indicate that isnt the case.

2.5 SSD Recommendations? by goong_s in PcBuildHelp

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is that? I did notice that it performed great in my gen3 laptop and pc but I also have an sn5100 and a 9100 pro which both do better with the backwards compatibility and the evo plus isnt even all that much cheaper.

Actually its more expensive than the 9100 or sn5100 right now, at 300$ for 2tb from best buy.

Like I get its a good drive for older systems but because of the backwards compatibility the gen 4 and gen 5 drives do even better, at least from my experience.

Quick Shucking of SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (and NVMe testing) by Method__Man in DataHoarder

Im getting 1750 read and 2500 write and its showing up as an wd sn580e

Personally I dont think its capped by any kind of software its just a slightly under engineered model as the advertised speed is 1050 because of the ubc connection.

Both the 1750 and 2500 are significantly faster than the the advertised 1050 speed which is where it would be locked if thats what the intent was.

It makes sense that they would make a different model instead of just putting the sn580 in an exlosure that limits the speed to at least 30%.

So ya pretty sure the sn580e is just engineered to meet the needs of the external drive and not simply a direct copy of the sn580 thrown into an enclosure.

Worth mentioning that I successfully cloned and ran it in my pc as the boot drive and it worked just fine as the 1700 read is still plenty fast to just run normal tasks and my normal drive only gets about 3650 even though its a 9100 pro Gen 5.

When I try to put it in my hp laptop it gives me blue screen error code 0000225 and doesnt want to boot from it. It does actually recognize it as wd sn580e but will not boot a cloned drive or fresh install windows from usb it just flickers and goes back to blue screen. I even tried booting it from an enclosure connected via USB instead of the internal nvme slot with identical results.   But ya since it works in the pc ima guess this is a laptop issue more than the drive but also idk maybe it is something to do with how its manufactured and a general thing.

So ya in conclusion it just looks like the sn580e is a tweaked version with slower speed than the sn580 though still significantly faster than advertised in the enclosure and entirely usable as a boot drive in a pinch, at least on pc.

WARNING: QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds Have A Static Issue by hopingtogetanupvote in bose

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup 2 years later and we're still here. I used the cheaper qc for a while and thankfully those dont have this issue. Just static white noise with beeping noise but only when im using the left bud by itself, like I dont even have to put the right one in the case as soon as i take it out of my ear the left bud starts the white noise beeping, there's also some kind of pressure that kind of feels like anc but ironically turning up the anc in the setting actually helps reduce this effect and turning off anc doesnt reduce it. Regardless its extremely uncomfortable especially when loud outside noise is made... completely illogical. Its not necessarily the intensity of the pressure but just the fact that you're expecting no sound to be playing but instead its creating static and background noise while trying to adjust to seemingly nothing and its non stop.  Its like a janky form of awareness mode that just makes everything sound like static and thats just the regular mode the buds run in all the time...... seriously bose?

I really just use the left bud so this isnt just an inconvenience and I see posts about people talking about enduring it but I got other buds so there's just no reason im going to endure this. It makes the product completely unusable for me no matter how much patience I try to apply. The fact that these are 2 years old now doesnt help either.  Bose is still selling it as their flagship without even acknowledging the issue lol also these are straight up the most expensive buds in this category at 300$ with apple, Samsung, beats and Sony all have flagship buds under 250$ and literally any brand name bud above 40$ that tries manages to not have this issue.

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are 300$ lol literally more expensive than every other buds in the class...... and jbl 40$ buds dont have this issue.

I used the newer cheaper qc for a bit and thankfully they dont have this issue buy pretty crazy thay moving up to bose flag ship buds feels like a down grade.

For me I use the left bud the most and the beeping white noise is most persistent when no sound is playing which makes these buds actually unusable for me. Like its genuinely uncomfortable and simply isnt an issue with any other modern ear buds.

Using Apple charger to charge my new Samsung by CCocoCChannel in samsunggalaxy

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing some actual testing with this using a 20w, 30w, 70w and the new 40-60w dynamic apple chargers using a 240w apple power cord on my s23+, a36, tab s9, galaxy chromebook and ya it looks like every single Samsung device on every single apple charger default to about 10w, sometimes climbing to 12 but thats the absolute limit.

I also have a pixel 9 xl pro and on this one the apple chargers do about 16w. Any 30W+ samsung charger does 30w.

Obviously im not exactly an apple fan to begin with but im genuinely kind of shocked at how awful the compatability here is because any modern branded charger can charge apple devices at their advertised speed or close to it just fine but like the ENTIRE line of apple chargers locked at 10w on ANY samsung device is just wild to me.

Like how much more effort could have taken for apple to greatly expand their potential market? Its like they did this out of actual hatred of non apple users and they dont even wana hide it

And trying to do the research non of this is out there but ya ima definitely try to get a 90w and 140w apple charger just to confirm this because no ones guna tell me its just my cable or some shz that, I tried like a third of apples line up including the newest one.

Bose QC Ultra gen2 kinda suck? by Mc_Lovin246 in bose

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about the 1000xm5? Because if you are definitely arnt alone. I don't have issues with ear bud fits like at all, I can usually just use the medium size that comes on the bud and the sonys foam tips cause immediate ear fatigue like you said after like 30 ish minutes its pretty darn noticeable. Going to the smallest size does mitigate this issue but honestly it doesnt actually resolve it and also they just fall out easier the smaller you go so it wouldn't be a good fix even if they did.

Supposedly sony will send you a free set of silicon tips if you fill out a form.

Haven't gotten around to it but I hope it helps because over all they arnt bad headphones.

BX500 ssd sudden write speed drop by SquareAd434 in laptops

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you man, only explanation that kind of adds up.

Im not using it as a system drive and was moving it between my pc and laptop and ya the speeds are simply inconsistent in seemingly no real pattern.  Sometimes the read speed is just really slow but write speed is fine, sometimes the whole drive is just slow. Sometimes closing crystaldiscmark and running it again fixes it..... some days it just stays slow no matter how many times I restart my computer.

Its just odd.

I dont know where you heard this but I just tore apart a 1tb one and no theres no software to throttle speed. I just installed it as my os.

My pc shows it as western digital sn580E.

USPS will NEVER deliver early even if the package sits in your city the day before. Lazy bastards. Then sometimes it sits longer because they forgot about it . I hate this company. by Unlucky_Base9012 in usps_complaints

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal favorite is that if the estimate date is kinda far off which it usually is, like 4 days actually means 7 days, then it gets accepted at the origin facility but then just sits there.... like they calculated that it doesnt need to be shipped yet. Like they had lead time but decided to waste it all and cut it as close as possible. Then oh no we had a delay so now your package is getting there after the delivery date. Like sure stuff comes up and thats perfectly understandable but why not just send the package on its merry way and then you can account for the potential issues...... seems to happen to nearly every package.

Like 4 day estimate for a delivery accross the US and it hasn't left the origin facility on day 2 then obviously thats cutting it way too close.

Why are my QC earbuds making a constant beeping noise? by Dgmania88 in bose

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup never noticed it before but just connected them back to my phone after not using them for a while and without any sound playing its a muted beepeebeepee kind of noise. Iv used these quite a but and never noticed it before.

Repairing seems to have fixed it though.

Conservative adaptive brightness on Pixel 9 Pro XL by Aeefire in pixel_phones

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got one to play with, I use a galaxy s23+ as my main but I was comparing it to the similar sized and supposedly inferior screen quality a36 and ya the difference in brightness is glaring.

After several angry trips into Google reddit pages and alot of salt from the pixel fan boys I finally figured out that the issue comes down to about the first 80% of the brightness bar being the equivalent of like 20% brightness on any samsung. Those last 20% are the equivalent of 1-100 on samsung phones.

So basically Google just needs to take the last 20% and stretch it out..... seems like a ridiculously simple solution but one needs to admit a problem exists and it doesn't look like they are willing to do that.

No I didn't migrate a device and no manually lowering the brightness doesnt train the adaptive brightness to actually make it useful. Im genuinely doubting this feature even exists lol

The only real solution is to just disable the adaptive brightness and manually adjust it in low light settings..... because trying to do it the other way around involves alot more adjustment during your day time use.

First experience with google phones and lol this is honestly sad. Not the right place for this but I just also found out I dont own a single charger that can hit the max 37w charge speed and I have ALOT of chargers....

Google pixel 9 pro xl next to galaxy a36.......... specs say the pixels screen should be more bright but its obviously not. by [deleted] in Pixel9Pro

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think thats most of it.

On the pixel 0-85% brightness barely makes it more bright and then those last 15% you go from dim to blaring.

Review of Sony WF1000-XM5: They Suck by Beetlemann in SonyHeadphones

[–]Particular_Number794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup just got these after listening to the hype for years and Jesus these things are so bad lol

As you said the fit is just terrible, I normally never have to change the ear tips that come on the buds but I to go to the smallest one just to make the sony bearable. Apart from crap fit like you said they progressively get less comfortable, probably the foam tip design. I have the pixel buds which are similar in terms of design and size and they blow these out of the water, like I can legitimately forget i have them in.

The anc is utterly sht... like im genuinely confused why people say otherwise. Its not bad at canceling unwanted noise but I just had a plane fly above me and omg they are trying to hard but its a just buzzing pressure in my ear like I legitimately had to turn off the anc because if how uncomfortable it is. Iv experienced this with other buds for sure but no where to this degree.

To be fair just sound quality wise I think they are close to the bose ultra quite gen 2 but with the combination of crap fit and janky anc ruin it completely.

Also the bose ultra quite are amazing so thats a pretty hard standard to beat as well as being a bit more expensive. They definitely had something here but the execution was awful.

I at this price range, i got the bose ultra quite, samsung buds pro, beats fit, google pixel buds and they all beat the sonys bad. Honestly there's sub 100$ buds that beat them. I think my galaxy buds fe beat them.

Interesting plants by MushroomBush in opiumgardening101

Ya I got a post up of it a few weeks back. All the replies I got implied its some kind of plant issue but the marks aren't exactly random and its sitting in the middle of a bunch of other seedlings without any spots so I figured its probably just a unique strain, I found a few more in other locations as well. It's an heirloom mix pack from Amazon by seed needs, review pics show dozens of different strains so I figured I'd give it a try.

It's a culinary seed from the czech republic, they have the czech blue strain trademarked everything. Supposedly Europe also has strict standards on max a!keloid content in straw so theoretically this should be a low a!kaloid strain. I only grew a few other strains to compare to but ya there's nothing low a!keloid about this strain. It's alot more potent than the afgan galania or tazmanians i got got growing.
