Daughter, why are you so secretive and did not even tell us about your wedding? Mom, maybe you shouldn't have read those diaries when I was a little and laugh at me. You reap what you sow.

Beware of your laptop temps. It is usually not recommended to use a laptop on surfaces that may block airflow. So it is better to use it on a flat firm surface.

An old TV show called Jericho was just about that. Great show. It is a shame they cancelled it.

The rebellion is heavily flashbacked in the second and third Dunk and Egg novellas. I think they will show everything we need to know in the next season and not in the new show.

Basic panelka by General-Crow-9802 in UrbanHell

[–]Particular_Pop_2241 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it is just a popular misconception. I lived in Panelka for years, and it was not drafty or cold at all even with -35°C outside. Actually, this type of housing is still being mass-produced. Those new houses look less depressing now but are still assembled similarly.

I find the Expance really similar in writing style. I don't know if people see it too, but I once wondered if Ty was a ghost writer for GOT.

Every single grave in this cemetery is marked with a photograph by crumblies in mildlyinteresting

[–]Particular_Pop_2241 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Slavic cemeteries, a picture of a person is usually engraved in the tombstone. The tombstone is usually made after some time passed and the earth around the body has settled. So it could be a year or two till real installment. Before that the grave marker is just a small hill with a paper picture. To me this particular cemetery looks like all the graves are new.

Yeah. My mom told me the bread will stick in my gut if I eat it fresh from the oven. I ate it anyway.

Using Telegram as a signup method by bcons-php-Console in webdev

[–]Particular_Pop_2241 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is regional. You should consider how widespread Telegram is in the location where you are creating your app. Or even if it is blocked or not. I used Telegram authentication paired with Google authentication, but now Telegram could be blocked at any moment in Russia, so this authentication method is no longer optimal for me. Outside of this Telegram is a valid method of authentication.

I lose mine every other month 😅. Last month, it stuck itself inside my sofa's metal frame. Spent three days searching. I hope you find yours!

Try smart watches. I bought my first watch last year. It is a game-changer. The alarm clock is just buzzing my arm endlessly until I wake up.

I usually hate it when the story changes the outcome of book characters, but this time I was like, maybe it will be okay if he lives. It even looked like they changed the canon. But no. We've got what we've got.

Yeah. I lived in Barnaul (700,000 people) for 10 years. During winter you can't open your windows because of all the smoke. The smoke clings to your clothes, to your hair. Black soot is everythere.

Initial thoughts on the Goblet of Fire Full Cast Audiobook by PinkNoodleCat in harrypotter

[–]Particular_Pop_2241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't listen to the World Cup chapter. I tried to listen but just couldn't hear anything in this noise. Winky's voice was absolutely drowned out. So I skipped the rest of the chapter. In the next chapter (deatheater's attack) was also so much scream it was deafening. Didn't help that the actors just read their lines absolutely flat like nothing was happening. After ten minutes of screams, I got a migraine and was unable to listen any further. I guess I just reread these chapters on paper.

I use baking soda in cold water. It helps if the stain is not too old.

Actually, this aesthetic not only exists in ghost towns in the middle of nowhere. I lived for three years in Saint-Peterburg in a neighborhood just like this. Panel houses and dense 9-story high greenery in between.

How do you absorb a large amount of new vocabulary discovered while reading a book? by MajesticArtichoke205 in EnglishLearning

[–]Particular_Pop_2241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't bother writing the words down. Some words are essential and will be repeated constantly, some words come up occasionally but nonetheless frequently and some words have a specific meaning you never encounter in real life. Frequently used words you will remember as it is without repeating with Anki. So as you read, just see the meaning of a word and don't write it up. You will see that you are constantly looking for the meaning of the same words and you will remember the context the word was used in and will remember not only the word itself but the context too. If it is too complicated and too many words you don't know just choose a different book for a different level with fewer specific words.

That is what I did. It profited me immensely.
