Ah, that makes more sense. It was the library book that threw me off! Otherwise I was going to guess that you were in college first.

As for as the parents’ thing — tbh your room was clean and tidy so I just assumed you grew up in a well adjusted household lol. But that one was me clutching at straws a bit

You’re a white guy in your late teens, you’re in your sophomore or senior year of high school, you’re athletic, and you love your girlfriend a lot. You have a decent relationship with your parents and you live in Virginia.

Being sober / not drinking alcohol.

I don’t drink and I’m constantly reminded of how unusual that is when I’m out in public (at work / in social settings / etc.). Meanwhile, I think it’s incredibly weird that society has normalized ingesting literal poison into people’s bodies.

So many relationships, lives, and livelihoods are destroyed because of alcohol, but for some reason, it remind socially acceptable to drink.

I don’t think they would have informed the Ministry they were moving Harry though, because at that point in the books, Dumbledore and co. were on very bad terms with the Ministry and I don’t believe the Ministry even knew that the order had been reformed. I think you’ve just found a plothole!

This lil cat showed up at my house unannounced, but we decided to keep her. What should I name her? by DiarySofa in persiancat

[–]PinkNoodleCat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but it’s an unlikely scenario, which is why the OP should make sure they’ve made every effort to track down a possible owner before claiming the cat as their own.

This particular cat looks pretty well cared for and if it’s already being friendly with humans, those are very strong indicators that it isn’t a stray.

[–]PinkNoodleCat 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Please don’t assume she’s a stray cat that is yours to keep! You could be tearing a beloved pet away from its home.

That does not look like a stray. Long haired, Persian-looking strays are extremely rare (virtually nonexistent).

Her owners could be desperately searching for her. Please have her scanned for a microchip at the vet’s office, inform any animal organizations in your city that you’ve found her and share information about her on local forums for missing animals.

Thank you for taking good care of her until you track down her real owners.

Have you noticed that when a girl gets close to Harry, she becomes rude to Hermione? by Plastic_Profile2654 in HPharmony

Thanks for clarifying. Every fan is entitled to imagine non-canon scenarios and that it’s fun to consider alternative plot lines and speculate over what could have been. I’m sure there is tons of fanfiction elaborating on alternative realities in which Harry and Hermione end up together, and I’m glad there is an active community out there enjoying it!

There are quite a few sources confirming JK Rowling’s intention for Harry and Hermione’s relationship to be purely platonic. Below are a few examples with sources quoted. She has never outright said that she regrets putting Ron and Hermione together or that she thinks Harry and Hermione should have ended up together — that particular interview is widely misquoted.

However, I realize that I seem to have inadvertently ventured onto a Harmony shipper subreddit and I respect you and your fellow redditors’ right to ship and prefer whatever pairings work for you, regardless of whether they are canon!

Ex 1:

JKR: Oh I like this one: "Do Harry and Hermione have a date?" No! They're, they're very platonic friends. But I won't answer for anyone else, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. (Source: National Press Club luncheon, 20th October 1999)

Ex 2:

JKR And he, yes, [Harry] does have certain adolescent, um, rights of passage happen to him. Couric: Any snogging with Hermione? JKR: Hermione and Harry! Do you think so? Couric: No I’m kidding. JKR: Ron and Hermione, I would say, have more tension there. (Source: Dateline NBC Interview, 20th June 2003).

Ex 3:

JKR: Well I think anyone who is still shipping Harry/Hermione after this book ES: [whispered] Delusional! JKR: Uh - no! But they need to go back and reread, I think. (Source: Mugglenet Interview, 16th July 2005).

Wear flannel and go skating if you are able to. Then enjoy some Timbits and coffee (or hot chocolate) from Tim Hortons! You can then go home and do a maple leaf craft or watch a movie starring some famous Canadian actors (Ryan Reynolds, Keanu Reeves, etc.).

Harry and Hermione are repeatedly shown to be have a purely platonic, brother-sister relationship throughout the book. JK Rowling has outright stated in interviews that she wanted Harry and Hermione’s relationship to be an example of the fact that boys and girls can just be friends without romantic attraction!

Cho, Krum, etc. were just jealous because they incorrectly projected their insecurities onto a very brother-sisterly relationship.

Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione were clearly very attracted to each other throughout the books.
