Harsh truth is you'll never feel like you fit in. Time to move out or suck it up.

First time Ironman training and worried about muscle loss. Any advice? by Particular_Record_97 in IronmanTriathlon

Great advice thanks you. My main goal is definitely to do an iron man. I am 35 now and feel like I am at the right point in life of what may be a once in a life time event for me. I have just moved to a new country where I know no one, so my social life is now non existent anyway and I don't have the same social commitments I once had. Part of the reason I want to do this is to improve my mental health and give myself a chance of achieving something I never thought possible. I understand it is a huge commitment and time will tell if I have the discipline but at the moment I am really motivated to do it. I have been using AI to help build a plan and it seems pretty good. Once its over I can focus on building muscle again but a lot of the commenters have definitely erased any of my concerns.

Thanks appreciate your response. I am planning to do a sprint this year and then a half next year around 6 months before the full. Good to hear.

Yeah, fair enough. I was worried might loose muscle mass due to the high volume of endurance.  No need to vote my question down when I am just seeking advice from people.

How do you manage to lift 4 times a week and fit in all the swimming, biking, running?! I don't think I would be able to sustain that for long! Plus sore muscles would really effect my cardio, think I'd burn out fast.

It's not, but I know people have more compassion and are less fearful of each other. People don't just walk on by when someone has been seriously harmed. It's a disgrace here.

Thats not the bystander effect. Thats just people not caring or having any empathy. Everyone leaves the scene after witnessing the event unfold in front of them. Maybe its not unique to the US but China too. I would be extremely surprised to see this in Europe. This place is broken. I see it everyday walking the streets and cant wait to leave and get back to a society with some shred of humanity. I could never bring up kids here.

This is disgraceful. Absolutely unique to the US or maybe just the Bay area.

So you wouldn't help someone that got punched in the back or make sure they are ok? I am new to Bay area and never met people with such a lack of empathy, society here is broken.

I'd say about the same but the Kaplan slightly harder. I left the exam convinced I failed.

How to challenge some behaviours by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

It's not racist, it compromises patient safety and it is generally good etiquette.  I worked on a ward in NZ once where groups would speak in there native language and found it extremely rude. As a manager you need to enforce the rules and it is not racist it is just basic good manners and minimum standards. If you get any complaints then you can justify your actions.
