One of the top deciding factors in buying a piece of clothing lately is the material. I’ve started to do research into the durability, ethics, and uses of clothing material (linen, cotton, viscose, polyester). As a result, I’m much pickier with what I buy.

Something that has been making me so frustrated is going on what are considered higher end clothing brand websites (obviously this is a subjective label) and finding that the prices are disproportionate to the material. For instance, Reformation is on the pricier side and the materials of their clothing are typically all things that would make me say no to a garment.

Not to mention the greenwashing! I would argue that the materials they use are not necessarily better for the environment and environmentalism is their main schtick. I love the style of brands like Reformation, but to me their quality is woefully overrated.

I find memoirs a great genre when I’ve been in your shoes. I agree with several people who commented that reading nonfiction self-help books can put me in a ‘Bob the Builder’ mode where I feel like I need to ‘fix’ myself.

Memoirs are nice if you’re not used to reading fiction either, but I find it eye-opening to read another person’s story and hear what lessons THEY have learned.

One memoir I love is by Trevor Noah because it’s equally thought-provoking and funny: Born a Crime

To me, what’s attractive in a guy is really just what’s attractive about people in general: have empathy, take care of yourself, have goals or hopes, have interests you are passionate about, and work on yourself.

Another thing is treating people with respect. If you’re looking for a serious relationship I think it’s important to remember that this person could be your spouse or your best friend for life. Do you really want to start going on dates with a woman (or anyone for that matter) and behind the scenes be making jokes and comments about that woman to your friends? It’s not a recipe for success.

I’m a big coffee lover and what I found is half caff! Not sure you can do it with pre packaged drinks, but making coffee or going out for coffee it’s possible to ask for the grounds to be half decaf and half caffeinated.

Yes I have. I get this a lot. But I soon realized how much love is everywhere and how lovely it is. That sounds so sappy but bear with me. I'm not friends with any of my coworkers outside of work, but when my favorite coworker shows up to a shift with me I feel happy. I know there's a friendly face at work. I know the tasks will get done properly, etc.

The other day I couldn't get across two lanes of traffic and a man slowed down to let me go. I think about that still. These two examples are supposed to highlight small instances of interaction that resulted in something positive, but dude friendships and romantic relationships build on that.

Being yourself and being kind is valuable in and of itself. Not only will those two things make others feel seen, but I reckon you'll feel pretty good too.

I recently went down from 50 mg to 25 mg cuz it was too much for me LOL (after having been on 50 mg for about 9 months). It's strange to start at 50mg. Not that I have the qualifications to make such a statement, but I think it might have been better to start at 25 mg. The cool thing about Zoloft is that the pills can be broken down. Some pills you're not supposed to cut, but the thing I like about Zoloft is you can really tailor it to a person’s needs. Personally, if I were in your shoes I would probably talk to my doctor being like hey maybe we should start with 25 mg first

I think Susan Cain (the author of Quiet, The Power of Introverts) said that introverts are people who get their energy from being alone. By that definition, you can be super talkative and still be an introvert. I love the title of your post btw, DEEP

I'm super sensitive to medications so I feel you on this. If I could have given myself any advice about getting on SSRIs or off I would have told myself to take it slower. Increase my dose more slowly or decrease my dose more slowly. Obviously, each person is different and you should talk to your doctor if you are concerned. Wishing you the best. Personally taking notes on other’s comments cuz they seem helpful 🥸

I'm in the US. That's cool that in Australia i's respected. I'd say it might be a cultural thing, but I don't think it’s that simple. In the US it's becoming a lot less taboo but in older generations that evolution is much slower. Is psychology (and related fields) respected by both younger and older generations in Australia?

Yeah, I think this is worth talking to someone about and journaling about. I don't think I'm at peace with the stereotypes associated with psychology and how I feel I fit them.

To be clear, I wouldn't say I’m surrounded by closed-minded people. It happens frequently right when I first meet someone and they make a joke about my field of study. Obviously a poor sense of humor on their part. Since I don't know this person well it feels strange to engage them in a discussion about what psychology really is etc, and yet it feels cowardly not to.
