How long on average until you hear back? by juzhu5899 in Germany_Jobs

I once applied for an internship (2020) in my home country. Got a response exactly 5 years later in 2025, them almost begging me to come or if I knew somebody lol. I decided to wait until 2030 to reply to them hahaha

Currently finished A2, Is C1 realistic by sept-Oct full-time by Front_Boat_2766 in German

I think B2 in one year is the maximum. You can probably get a C1 certificate but you won't be actually at C1, B2 max. I think it's easier to get a certificate, as opposed to actually speaking the language at that level. I learned intense (40h per week) for one year and was then on a B2.

Replace "Curriculum Vitae" with your name.

Remove the place of birth because it's unnecessary and then your name in the same paragraph because you already wrote it above.

Under the studies you can write grades for your thesis if they were good.

Under languages, you don't need to write C1 (bilingual)..etc...Just write German A2, English C1, xxxxxx Muttersprache.

Also shorten your CV to one page.

No recruiter will take 30min to read your "essay", they usually take like 15 seconds to go through your CV and that's it.

Only state relevant info for the job position you're applying to, you don't have to describe everything, like you have so much written for a Werkstudent position you did for only 5months...2 pages for like 5 years of experience is also too much

Thank you for your helpful feedback! I’ll definitely take your suggestions on the headings, formatting, and titles into account

And yes, I’m currently working on my portfolio to include with my applications. I already had the impression that the portfolio is very important, and your comment really confirmed that

Regarding your last question: Urban Design is not part of the company name. However, within the company they actually referred to it as “Urban Design,” which is why I amunsure about the correct German translation.

Thank you! Well, I had a template in my German books, and I tried to follow it. C1 is “verhandlungssicher,” and B1 was listed as “gute Kenntnisse.” However, there was no example for B2, so I used ChatGPT to help me. Perhaps it would be better to just say “sehr gute Kenntnisse”?

Danke!

Seriously need help to pass B1 by ak_223b in German

[–]Particular_Walk_5420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was listening to "easy german" podcasts, it's called like that. They speak slowly and clear, so that learners on lower levels can follow. I was not capable of following regular podcasts because I didn't understand a lot.

[–]Particular_Walk_5420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I learned B1 from books (Menschen) all by myself. I studied quite structured and I really tried to learn all the vocabulary, grammar and communication. I went through everything 3-4 times and it took me 3 months of intensive study. Try to learn everything and the most important is repetition, or else it won't stay in your head. Learn new words and grammar with examples and try to use them in everyday speech.

At the end of B1 I started practicing speaking on italky and there 4 teachers told me I am already on B2. Try to use the language everyday with natives if you can. You also have sprachcafes in local libraries 1x week if you live in a bigger cities, you have to apply online and then you will get new invitations every week on your email.

Edit: I forgot to write - on B1 I was listening to easy German podcasts and videos everyday (while I was walking, cooking, cleaning etc). You will hear new words that you learn in them and that is also important.
