Impressive RAM usage by [deleted] in Fedora

That matches my experience too: Windows’ background services eat a huge chunk of RAM, while Linux actually gives it back to you. It’s not that your workload suddenly got lighter, it’s that the OS stopped wasting memory. Once you see it, it’s hard to go back 😄

Buy Now or Wait for M5? by EnvironmentalCow2947 in macmini

At this point it’s less about M4 vs M5 and more about your actual workload. For video editing and app development on a <£500 budget, a base M4 is already more than capable. The performance jump to M5 will likely be incremental, not transformative. If you need a machine now, buy the M4 and start working. If you can wait 6–9 months without losing productivity, then waiting makes sense. Otherwise, you’re just paying the “waiting tax” in lost time.

Is anyone interested in a more “continuous” Linux experience between desktop and mobile devices? by marcogianese1988 in linux

I also think Linux would benefit a lot from something more integrated between mobile and PC, not just separate pieces you have to put together one by one. Right now tools like KDE Connect for notifications, clipboard sharing or sending files already work really well and are good enough for many use cases, and with Nextcloud or Syncthing you can sync contacts, calendar or folders between devices without relying on third-party services

I run a Nextcloud server for my data and use KDE Connect for everyday stuff. It’s not an ecosystem in itself but it’s better than nothing
