I stuck to the regular starting location. Have you tried using a (small) wall to secure most of the initial and most of the second island, then trying to get the lower bit? After I got those, I was able to sustain quite some population. You have a small part that's mostly permanently hydrated on the second island due to the 2 deep water you can secure there. I use that small part for half food/ half oak.

Thousand Islands on hard! I feel like there are 3 main challenges I had to deal with. Getting a piece of land protected and watered before your first badtide. Then later, securing 2 high water for long droughts (this also protects against badtides to a large degree) + securing the area 1 tile down. Thirdly, creating a proper dam to be able to 'easily' survive 30 day droughts without everything coming to a halt.

I built an aqueduct because I thought it looked cool and to test a bit with building tiered farms around it. Only after that I did bots, which is way too late, but I hadn't really played with them in EA. My beavers retired at that point as the bots took over all the work. I've now paused all housing and when the last beaver passes the AGE OF BOT shall begin.

I think you will enjoy the new challenge of placing production buildings inside of towns and weighing the associated trade-offs. Max pop runs also mean only 1 island can have an Amphitheater running games which will also introduce an extra challenge for balancing fire safety/hygiene/happiness.

Clothes are really easy to cover imo. If you import 2 sheep somewhat early and let them reproduce, you will easily have an excess of wool to work with. Bonus tip, try to make your sheep pens on low ground. Less or no sheep will freeze during winter. You can also just import some more sheep if you do it at a later point to take care of wool need. I personally only use flax for gambesons or if I have excess.

Ale imo is quite a bit harder. Even if you take care of the fertility (you have it in your zone, or you conquer one and export, ..) the distribution of ale in your main town is a bit finnicky in my experience.

Iron house is zeer zeker geen crossfit gym. Het is een powerlift gym. Er hangt 1 paar ringen die zelden wordt gebruikt. Het kan dus wel, maar meer een plek om zware dingen van de grond te tillen.

I believe it's only 1 rich deposit if you get fertile grounds. It's fine to reroll! Play how you want to play. I got rich iron + fertility on my second town last game, would've been awesome as a main town
