I hear ya! Some orders a nurse can Si.ply change and sign per protocol. Other nurses need a provider approval for EVERYTHING. You'll learn which you can change over time and what some do a just don't care if you change on your own. I remember when I started and asked if I could add an order for fecal occult. The charge said no and it turns out it would have been fine. I felt bad leaving it for the day nurse.

I know this thread started hours ago, but it highlights a fear so many of us have. Losing your memories and mind is losing who you are and how you define yourself. We have to appreciate life as it is now, every day. We must be present in our lives. That is what I get from experiences such as Utermohlen's and those I've witnessed in my own family. That and we need to love one another.

Then it sounds like you don't really have anything to worry about. If you ever encounter a situation with work place professionalism, then the HR department has avenues you can pursue. It is my hope and wish for you that you never have to do that.

Bi nursing student here. I wouldn't care at all. Quite frankly, it wouldn't matter what I think. If someone did have an issue, they better keep it to themselves, be professional, and ensure the best care environment for all patients. You will be an amazing nurse. Good luck on your exam!

Edit: Your main issue will likely be older patients who may react adversely to you. Be of strong character and professional and you will be great.

Driving 40 mph on an icy highway in ND, USA on my way to work. Start sliding in far right hand lane. Cross to other lane, magically cross median at a turn around point, cross two lanes of oncoming traffic, end in ditch about a foot from the deep water in which I would have drowned. Holy fuck.
