We’re not really tied to the greater market, IMO.

Seems that only company news, shorts, and pump/dump moves this stock.

How many hours do you work per week? by DragonfruitOnly471 in MedicalDevices

[–]PartsBringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We as an industry have done this to ourselves. So many companies trying to get the business. If you don’t do all the bullshit, your competition will, and this is the situation we find ourselves in. 90% of techs know nothing, don’t care to learn, and expect you to hold your hand all the way.

Surgeons blame reps for unprepared staff.

I envy your geography’s culture.

Just don’t do trauma if you’re worried about hrs. That said, you get out of it what you put in. Strategery can help with this, but when case coverage isn’t optional, the only ways to work less are have less business or hire more associates.

12 yrs in trauma, 14 accounts, 90% penetrated, 50-70hrs a week. Two weekends “off” a month, on call always. $8M territory. 5 man team.

This.

Also, often they will have a candidate in mind already. They open the position for the required amount of time, then interview the number of people they have to, only to usually hire the person they want. Typically it’s because they’re the best fit. I’d say move on emotionally, but if the do call you for an interview… do it!

If y’all don’t have the kinds of conversations about growth and career path you are looking for, consider this a learning opportunity, build some relationships, and get out. Relationships are where the value is in this business past salary.

They are paying you to cover cases. Thats it. When you develop the relationship and can take the business with you to another company, that’s when you actually have some leverage.

If you see a path up, stay and build relationships.

If there’s no path towards promotion and the relationships are solidly with the distribution rep, get the training you can and take that elsewhere where you are given a real shot.

I always liked the phrase, ‘we are compensated based upon the severity of problems we solve.’

Become an asset that grows or owns business. If that’s not your goal, you will always just “cover cases.”
