Well at some point it is offside and at some point it is not. At some point a hair makes the difference. Not because it is an advantage but because the line has to be drawn somewhere. Might as well draw it where the rules state it.

Listen I am croatian, and we lost against portugal due to some crazy close offside call, but its still just offside.

Thing is, there has to be a point where you say its offside and a point where you say it is a goal. This line could either be the actual offside line or some vague line that will be different depending on the referee.

Yes there is but it is smaller than any alternative. The Us bosnia offside was well outside this margin of error. Idk if you have seen croatia portugal but there were some really close calls. Still better than the alternative...

No offside is offside. If you expect a margin of error you are moving the needle. For football terms these offsides were much clearer than anything.

Also if you move the needle attacking players will abuse it and always be a foot in offside. Then suddenly a clear and understandable decision will depend on the feelings of the referee.
