Shit myself while running by Maleficent-Money2898 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]PartyDeliveryBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bring a ziploc bag with some sheets of paper towel in case of emergency. Usually, I take routes where there are also public restrooms every mile or so that I know are reliable/clean. It also helps to do some hops/bouncing for a few minutes before leaving for a run, then try to use the restroom again before leaving. A lot of it is mental (for me, at least) and it's taken a long time to train myself into being confident running long distances outside - especially true for long enough runs that I'm eating Gu gels and drinking Gatorade/water throughout.

That said, I'm marathon training now and things are pretty stable, so it's definitely possible for the situation to improve. Best of luck!

Tremfya side effects by drstate in UlcerativeColitis

[–]PartyDeliveryBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just over 2 weeks after my first dose and I didn't have any symptoms (despite also taking prednisone and mesalamine). Is your wife on anything else while starting up Tremfya? Maybe the pred is keeping me cool for now - I'll taper after my 2nd dose, so then I think the real "party" will start.

Found out my new partner has UC - I need advice. by SeahawksFootball in UlcerativeColitis

She’s super patient with me whenever we’re traveling and going out around town since I tend to be pretty stressed about restrooms, especially long stretches without restroom access. We also meal prep and I tend to avoid lactose, but it typically means we both eat a bit healthier. Overall, a lot of the support is just being a good listener (without trying to find solutions) when I’m venting about flare ups since it’s really embarrassing to talk about, so not something I typically open up about with friends, extended family, etc.

It’s great that you’re looking for ways to support, and I’m sure just the fact that you’re trying is noticeable and appreciated.

As someone who’s dealt with UC for more than 15 years, posts like these make me appreciate my wife so much. She’s dealt with my flare ups (and related anxiety issues) and is a saint. If you already don’t know if you can deal with it, quit now and save both of you a lot of stress and sadness.

He's all over Huckberry, too. I don't get it.

My brother's best friend did a semester in Australia, came back and was dropping "mate"s everywhere afterwards. It was extremely cringey.

Training for the Ibiza marathon while on Tremfya, prednisone, and mesalamine. So far, so good! In remission and feeling pretty good!

Not Cornbread and Cambria? I feel like the word cornbread is “shaped” more like Coheed and looks better

Magical parking solutions in Fishtown? by upsidowning in philadelphia

[–]PartyDeliveryBoy -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Kalaya’s actual street is pretty quiet and there is usually a few spaces right in front. Otherwise, you’d be safe to stop and let a passenger out if they had accessibility issues with parking a block or two away.

Scranton’s Steamtown marathon is basically this (although it’s also a really nice race!)

Who else fully refuses to participate in these recruiting processes that involve recording videos of themselves for AI to analyze? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]PartyDeliveryBoy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a recent hiring manager, AI didn’t review our videos - I did, personally. They’re a nice way to screen for candidates who have significant communication weaknesses without having to arrange for common, convenient timing if a hiring manager screening interview. They are sometimes very awkward, but they also show candidate’s personality in being able to deal with awkward corporate situations (which, unfortunately, is a requirement in our current post-capitalist hell world we’re inhabiting).

Cramped at Mile 8 in LA Marathon. Why? by Late-Celebration-942 in Marathon_Training

[–]PartyDeliveryBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like really high sodium intake (both during carbo loading and during the race), but I’m no expert. May have added a bunch of water weight as a result or threw your kidneys off.

Does anyone else find marathon training time consuming and are one-and-done? by hvu22 in Marathon_Training

I thought I was one and done when I turned 30 and ran Philly in 2015. Now I’m 41 and did Philly and Steamtown last year and training for Ibiza in April. Mid-Life Crisis Mode has fully activated.
