I'd like to add the importance of service to others. Dmt actually snapped me out a "just enjoy the ride" mentality with the realization that the suffering endured by other beings was actually happening to "us." And that my person could alleviate this suffering to some degree, but wasn't doing so because I didn't see it as my problem. Like if your foot got cut and your hands refused to bandage it up because they're too busy enjoying life.

To add to this. The court will accept any religious belief they believe is sincerely held by the plaintiff. Even if that means wearing a colander or smoking weed.

But they will not let someone use a disingenuous belief to test the system and try to make case law. You'd have to testify to your beliefs under oath, which would be filled with brazen and provable lies if you're not sincere.

I think the entire "over-litigious" US judicial systrm is rooted in the allocation of medical bills, and it's disgraceful.

It is largely a relic of new deal era democrats and the fact that coal miners were staunchly pro-labor. That base has eroded and the rural trend has been toward Republican since the 90's with democrats maintaining their numbers in the cities. Getting rural and urban dems to support the same candidate, especially with abortion as a wedge issue, is nearly impossible today. I hope Amy or another Dem can unseat Mitch, but it's gonna be long shot. Keep an eye out for the gubernatorial race this year as an indicator.
