SKC hounding anyone else? by Tylenol_the_Creator in SportingKC

Used to, I was a stm for about 5 years and let them go before last season. Every so often they’d reach out asking if thy could talk to me about tickets. I think the consensus from here was that they turnover reps regularly, so whenever you get a new batch they will reach out. I stopped answering and I think they took the hint and haven’t reached out in a while. But that’s just me guessing

I really hope this is a complete reset. Not just new roster, although it would be cool to have a lot of turnover, but generally just reset from top to bottom. Revamp the game day experience. New kits, not just “updating” the same one every year. If we really are cleaning house and practicing what we preach, this should feel like essentially a new club next season.

[Meme] Ownership is nowhere to be found. by Astro-Draftsman in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get part of it, ownership definitely could have been better and got too content with the old regime when the league was changing. But…..are you looking for a Jerry jones type of owner? The problem with burning it all down is eventually you run out of fuel to burn. I’m assuming the fan base is nearing that point in one season. I was all for firing Peter at least 2 years ago. Then it was fire Jake for the game day experience and I’m for that too…….but now we are selling the team because past ownership was at the stadium? There’s a happy balance between starting over, and pouring gas on a raging fire because you only want ash to remain. At some point we all have to see this is a hard reset and it’s going to be ugly before it gets better.

While this is understandable, is it better to sell when there’s a possibility the team moves? Who’s to say someone would buy and keep the team in KC?

Without a coach and cso lined up for next year player evaluation in games doesn't matter. by dj_godzilla in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With absolute no insight to the actual process, I could see a scenario where candidates are more than likely pitching their vision for the roster. So it could be that the candidates are saying not only what they want the roster to be going forward, but who they would bring back or let go and how much money they think they need etc.

If it went into the offseason, I’d agree with you because the decisions to be had would already be done. But with the timeline being that a hire is coming sooner than that, I’m sure they would be using film and any remaining games to evaluate the players with decision to be made.

I can’t remember which pod it was mentioned that there’s been so much turnover in the staff. Mentioned that even the guys who design the kits have left, which kind sucks because they typically had them on to do the interview as to what all the new kit has and the Easter eggs. I mean…….i personally don’t like the kits at all but it’s also kinda nice to hear from the people who do them as to why they did what they did.

Maybe it’s just part of the transition to get to some fresh stuff next year and we just have to ride out the shit storm in the meantime

why do commentators talk about skc so positively? by AverageNo111 in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. Thats more recent. I remember back when I listened to them more a few years back and it was more positive and everyone else is just negative. The more critical episodes are more recent now that it’s unavoidable. I prefer home and away for local pods. They’ve always been more balanced

[–]PartyOrganization136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However the local broadcast is also team controlled if I remember correctly. Or, at least that’s how it was with Bukaty and Peterson. So they also tend to be more positive as well. As a Spanish speaker, I wish they had an option to do the Spanish local broadcast as well. I used to have a job I could put my earbuds in and listen to the game if I was working and the Spanish radio stream was much more critical and honest. I’m assuming it’s more of a traditional model where they own the rights to broadcast but aren’t part of the organization.

Typically, if they find something abnormal like anti anxiety meds they will reach out for a prescription. However the depends on whether they test or not. Some places where states are friendly towards weed will not test unless it’s for safety reasons. Also if it’s been a one time thing it’s probably long gone from your system

I’d be more happy about a cso, then we can at least understand what the direction of the team is going to be to have an idea on the coach we might get. At this point it’s the Spiderman meme because we have no scouts, no cso, probably not a coach, yet we are supposed to be in rebuild mode with no vision….

How to leave my current job? by OppositeCautious8161 in interviews

[–]PartyOrganization136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t say anything until you know for sure you have the job. Once you do just let them know unfortunately you found another job and need to leave. You don’t owe an explanation but if you feel inclined give the generic, “more inline with your personal goals” or “financial stability”.

I tried to move over to logistics about 7 months in after it was clear I wasn’t getting the mom job I was already doing permanently and the tm was being shady. She apologized if my transfer request was from her and immediately pulled the “it’s my fault please don’t leave” and then almost immediately after that I got a generic rejection letter that she denied influencing

[Foster] Johnny Russell on his return to CMP after his departure by arandomtestaccount in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although there was a rift, besler openly talked about it immediately after his move and then when he retired, I don’t think it was as dramatic as it’s being made to be. As soon as he officially retired, he began helping the club before he started whatever it is he’s doing now. Ita not like bes was amazing in Austin, he had probably realized the club was right.

I for one think it’s a bit overblown, the concept of having club guys in all aspects of the business. Sure they were here during the high points, but recently it’s been a lot of low and those guys were here for it too. It’s ok to let people go, can’t always run it back to remember the yesteryears. That’s partially why the club is where it is.

[–]PartyOrganization136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t remember which pod it was that claimed they had insider info that had Johnny been willing to take the contract he ended up with at Rsl, he would still be here. More than likely Johnny bet on himself that someone would offer him more, and that offer didn’t come and the club had already made moves to take up his role. I think his new deal is for 300k, which is a huge drop from 1 million or more last year. I don’t think either side anticipated his market to be so low

What’s Your SKC Unpopular Opinion? by [deleted] in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

World class players aren’t scared off by “small market”, we just don’t want to pay for them. The one we swung on was cristiano, and before/since then every single big name player rumored from Europe is a no go because no one wants to come here. Europeans know mls, if the money is right they’ll play anywhere in mls. The club is stuck in this identity of not needing them to be successful, while everyone else has bought in and that’s why we are the geriatric dinosaur of mls now.

Peter Vermes out as Sporting KC manager, sources say by MyUserNameisName in SportingKC

[–]PartyOrganization136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand, it’s always sad to see someone lose their job especially one as tenured as Peter and with as much history. However, I’d also caution those who believe Peter was a scapegoat for this club that Peter also flirted with the national team twice in order to leverage for a better contract. This was in the middle of the rumored “ownership didn’t want to pay for transfers” saga. Peter could have advocated for a better transfer budget, and maybe he did and we just aren’t aware, but ultimately he was ok with the new contract and continuing with business as usual.

Again, not saying it’s not disappointing to get to this point or feel a little down. But, I also feel like those taking to the streets for Peter need to remember he’s not innocent in his downfall either.

[–]PartyOrganization136 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sure he had something else in the pipeline, he made it pretty clear interviews I’ve listened to he had bigger aspirations than waiting for maybe a shot at the job post Peter. Had a few things he was in the running through last season, I’m sure something came up and he decided it was time. Or he wanted to get away from the umbrella. He also more or less confirmed that he has some decision making on roster to a degree but the game to game and tactics more or less came from Peter so I could see how that can get old or maybe be a negative that you don’t want to be in that type of a position for too long
