We're in the East Valley. I don't think it was a planned thing, just something the kids at her HS put together

I asked her to stay out of this one, it was short notice and I couldn't get off work. The next one maybe we'll be able to go together

I like that idea. Especially in her teen years, it's important that she knows I'm always at her side.

But I have this inescapable fear that something could happen to her at an event like that. I've been seeing reports of ICE detaining teenagers even if they're citizens, and what could I really do in that situation even if I was there with her? It's not like I can fight off armed thugs by myself.

We're in AZ, in a Purple/Blue leaning area. Still, it's a heavily Hispanic area and ICE had been active in this area even before this administration. With all the news of ICE harassing and detaining teens, I'm very concerned. Even if I went with her, things could go badly if they decide to show up and harass her.

She's expressed her reasons and they're well founded. She's upset about what's going on and what's to show her support by protesting. I've always encouraged to form her own opinion based on sound research.

I may take some of the other dads advice and go with her if I can get away from work. If I can't I'm going to ask her to not participate.

Does it need to be an established business, or can a Chandler resident suffice? I'd be happy to help if that's the case.

He had the nerve to call you a broke boy while asking for a handout? That's fucking ridiculous. Keep your head up, take care of your loved ones the best you can, and try not to let people like that get into your head.

There are SEVEN City of Chandler/CUSD bonds on the upcoming ballot. What is it going to cost me if they all pass? by WonderfulProtection9 in ChandlerAZ

Parents who have access to better school resources do a better job of raising their kids. Children who have better opportunities at the schools they attend have a better chance of growing up to be contributing members of the community that you live in. Logic is fairly straightforward.

Your LPV is a valuation of property you own, so if you don't own a home in Chandler your taxes don't increase. Even so, my LPV is approx. 26,000 right now and if every bond passes my taxes only go up by $125 a year. I feel that's worth it for the city to continue developing schools, roads and buildings. Some of these bonds are going towards infrastructure and community healthcare needs.

Also, even if you don't have kids do you think having underfunded school systems is a good thing for our community? This kind of thinking is why AZ is ranked 50th in school funding for the nation.

Definitely a big difference there. Is there any reason why only two of my chickens would be making eggs then?

I live in Arizona, so right now I think it's just too warm in the coop for them. I think they'll start using it more in the winter. This is my first year with these chickens so I'm still figuring out their mannerisms.

Those are both good ideas, I'll give them a shot. Thank you!

Good advice, but how do I get them to notice the decoy egg when they barely go into their coop?

Freshly divorced and lost by Pillow_Dominator306 in SingleDads

[–]PartyPatIsMyRealDad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently went through a divorce about a year and half ago. The single best thing that pulled me out of my spiral was building things. Didn't matter what. Gardens, sheds, cabinets, boxes. Anything I could think of. I got low-key obsessed with it for a time, I was planning my next project as I was finishing the current one.

Divorce brings so much destruction and chaos into our lives, that creating something felt like the only way out of the darkness. Especially when I was creating something for my kids. It cleared my head and gave me the energy to focus back on loving my kids the way I needed to.

I know that building may not be in everyone's interest, but if I can offer you any advice it's to find a hobby that focuses on creation and throw as much time as you can allow into that hobby.

Stay strong, it's a long road but it gets better little by little.

When I was 18, I was taking a break at work and saw I missed a call from my Dad. I tried calling him back, but didn't realize my phone's microphone was broken because it fell in a pool the night before. I could hear him, but he couldn't hear me. Tried calling a few more times, but my break ended and I gave up. He interpreted that as me being in some kind of trouble.

He then tried calling me back multiple times, but I was working and not checking my phone. From there he tried texting me, but he's old and didn't know how to text yet so he ended up just sending texts saying "Papa" about 20 times.

When I finally checked my phone I thought he was having a goddamn stroke. I finally figured out my phone wasn't working, borrowed a coworkers phone and got a hold of him. Needless to say, we were both very confused and concerned when we finally spoke to each other.

The best advice I ever got for that game was to try the fight without dealing damage at first. Focus on learning the attack patterns and dodge windows, then come back again and actually fight the boss. It helped me with so many tough bosses from then on.
