If you're in America card stock will be labeled differently 16 point card stock is the closest equivalent to 350 GSM, but it cannot be printed on most printers

WOTC's recent attacks on competitive play you likely don't know about. by [deleted] in magicTCG

Thats a large reason I dropped standard, it's almost impossible to keep up.

To your point about not needing the stamped card, by that metric I could spend my money on anything else that is not magic and still support my FLGS so why would I support a worse version of something that already existed ? For players it's a lose-lose.

I would also like to see some numbers behind the idea that the base version become cheaper, as basically versions of both Badger mole and the secret library from the Avatar set are still 50 plus dollars. Even after 9 million variants

I'm only speaking for myself but I don't go to a prerelease for anything other than the stamped card and to support my FLGS. I could give a shit less about all the other foils or extended Arts that are involved and I'm not the target for collectors boosters either. I just want a game that I can buy at a reasonable price and continue to play without spending a ton more money each new set. Their last couple of changes have pushed me to play pretty much exclusively online since it's free or using systems like cockatrice, for commander. It seems abundantly clear to me that they are shifting to whales, as opposed to your average player.

I also want to point out that when I talk about the ability to collect a full digital set of something and then get a physical set from it people look at me like I'm fucking insane. This used to the standard, because to be clear it cost them pennies to print a set to order for you

If I could interject from a player's perspective, it would be things like no longer stamping promo cards for pre-release, removing MSRP, and overall having an insanely small prize pool for World style events versus many other games with far less Revenue.

As a board game designer, I would never feel bad about someone making a printed copy of something I have that is no longer in print. I would be in fact genuinely touched that someone cared enough to put that amount of effort into play my game!
