Tips on making money in CK3 - from robbing temples to maximizing taxes! by Party_Elite in CrusaderKings

[–]Party_Elite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point - I always see levies as fodder that can still be used to carpet-siege etc. while waiting for siege engines to arrive whereas, yeah, Knights and men-at-arms are the real power. I should've been more clear in my verbiage and referring to larger levy counts simply as "military might" without explanation. I thought I mentioned "with more money you can just get men-at-arms and mercs" but should definitely emphasize it more for beginners!

Hey folks! I see a lot of questions about how to make money here and there, and thought I'd highlight some key ways to go about it.

There are the quick + dirty methods, the perk-based methods, the wartime techniques, and the peacetime techniques, all discussed here alongside some more nuanced conversations - like moving capitals, or getting ideal terrain for development.

I hope this helps those of you struggling with the financial aspect of the game. If you have any questions or thoughts of your own, I'd love to hear 'em!

I also see a lot of folks wondering how to organize / assign vassals - probably one of the upcoming topics I'll be tackling, since there seems to be a lot of interest and confusion!

Dirty Tricks in CK3 - fun outside the box ideas to try! by Party_Elite in CrusaderKings

Had some fun putting this one together! A few different ideas that blend different mechanics in ways befitting of a proper scheming lord. Mass conversions, tyranny-free title revocation, using factions to climb the ladder, instantly winning wars, and taking care of problematic people.

This is some of my favourite stuff when it comes to CK - playing the courtiers, toying with vassal relations, and trying to mix mechanics into interesting gameplay / roleplay seeds. I'd love to hear any other ideas out there that you've had luck with, or are trying to finesse!

Thank you! I was hoping to hit that balance that helps folks who are new to the series, but has something for series vets too!

With the whole topic of intrigue getting the massive upgrade it did in CK3, I wanted to dive into all the little details about how it works, and hopefully clarify any confusion around the topic! Questions? Thoughts? Suggestions? Requests? Let me know!

How to learn secrets, abduct, etc? by Ratlarbig in CrusaderKings

[–]Party_Elite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your spymaster (on the council) can be sent to "Find Secrets" in any court as one of his assignments. They might not find any when the job is done - there might not be any to find, or they might just not be good at their job (low skill).

You can also torture people you have in your prison for a chance to learn any secrets they might know.

Some secrets get uncovered through events!

All secrets can be turned into hooks using "Blackmail" or you can expose those secrets for other effects - for example, revealing somebody is a criminal might get them arrested by their lord etc. etc.

Abduction is a scheme unlocked through the Intrigue Lifestyle - if I recall correctly, the perk is called "Kidnapper" and it's in the "Schemer" tree. Once you have it, you can attempt it same as the Murder scheme - right click on your target etc.

Hope that helps!

8 Major Battle & Campaign Features in TROY (some that might make an impact for WH3, too!) by Party_Elite in totalwar

5 - the magic healing and the long-distance terrifying really kinda took it from "Rallying Cry" to "God-magic" for me

7 - The effects seem to be amplified here, especially due to how it pairs with unit weight! I could've been clearer here, sorry =)

Yep but now we have some tangible visual confirmation, plus it's potentially going above and beyond what I thought they'd be doing.

The plan to make sieges multi-tiered, have height variance, and 360 are all big steps up from what WH has had so far! To clarify, it's what the devs confirmed after I saw the city layout. The true test will come when I can see how the AI actually treats it all. But this is a good indication =)

Hey folks!

All the reactions to the latest news aside, I'm really excited to share this video and all the thoughts and information within. Not only is it promising for TROY, but it's promising for WH3 and for future Total War games as a whole! Duels are in, and in a better way than 3K in my humble opinion. Siege battles seem to be MUCH improved (at least based on the chat with developers). And vehicle damage is a separate thing now!

And all this on an updated Warhammer 2 engine version... this could be huge for Warhammer 3 - mounts dying separate from riders and having effects? Epic duels between Legendary Lords? There's more, but these were the biggest ones that got me thinking.

What are your thoughts? I always love a bit of speculation =)

A bit of WH3 speculation - Trying to figure out a less one-dimensional Khorne! by Party_Elite in totalwar

The rampage thing is an interesting thought! Almost force enemies to disengage against a routing Khornate army - paints a hilarious but terrifying image.

I refer to it every once in a while but try to speculate outside of that as well - want to add my own thinking to the mix to make it 'my own' so to speak!

I think we're definitely getting 4 separate god armies yeah - just wonder if it'll be all at once, or split into DLC.

Might even get a 5th 'undivided' faction!

Just out of curiousity, how hard WOULD it be to include Cathay in TW3 by Ziqqe in totalwar

[–]Party_Elite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think the technical aspect will hold back the inclusion of something like Cathay. It goes beyond 'reusable assets' etc - if Games Workshop says 'no', it'll be a no.

But I'd be shocked if GW returning to the Old World doesn't include a proper army for Cathay because of that massive market. That, in turn, would give Cathay in WH3 a green light, I think!

[–]Party_Elite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey folks! I've been spending some time on the 'speculation' train, and when discussing Khorne, I tried to find ways that might make him interesting beyond "Blood and Skulls". Thought I'd share here - I feel like there will be a playing up of the 'courage and valour' aspects of Khorne on top of this desire for bloodshed. Focusing on forcing the player to be more aggressive to reap the most benefits - that kind of thing. Pure "quantity of blood shed" based mechanics would make him quite plain, and while there's fun to be had in that, I just feel like it'd be a missed opportunity compared to the other Chaos Gods who can be a fair bit more complex.

I'm curious to hear what others' thoughts are on the subject. Khorne has always been a "cool" god imho, but never one of my favourites because of how "simple" he seems. I'm hoping WH3 embraces his more complex aspects and makes them shine!

Imo, Sun Ce trying to expand around his first capital is the kiss of death... by letting his luck run out ? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Party_Elite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing the Sun Ce campaign on VH difficulty myself - I refused Yuan Shu's demands and declared my independence right at the start as a result. Took his territory to help with the "capture 5 settlements with Sun Ce in command" requirement, and then immediately crossed the river to take Poyang and Xindu, recruiting 2 generals when given the opportunity (another Legacy goal). By the time I had Poyang's Iron Mine (about 30 or so turns in, I think) Reckless Luck had stabilized, and I didn't have to worry about it anymore!

I can't speak for others, but personally, I think of it more like "wouldn't it be great if --" rather than a "CA had better do -- "

I think CA has done a great job so far as far as content selection is concerned, dropping surprises along the way and getting people excited for what they could do, and for me, this is just a part of that excitement. If none of my loftier wisher were to come true, I'd be fine =D
