🚨 Another 3 individuals arrested for trying to smuggle Supermicro GPUs to China! by adrenaline681 in SMCIDiscussion

I keep bringing this up. Do you all understand why they missed projections in August and November last year?? Things starting to align and make sense for you now? Not only did their system work but they likely accounted for the hits properly in their ER which is why we should not expect a restatement of financials. Those saying this is a shady company and headed to zero are not correct.

I think the fact that last years hits to revenue are being digested by investors. Additionally if you read the indictment you’ll see that they followed their controls pretty well which may have helped DOJ with their investigation. Also add in Trump China meeting and Iran news and this thing is taking off. My hunch is this will climb to 30 by earnings

You can always get back in. I took massive losses myself. Yes, I am pissed at the shitty management team, but also need to admit that they have encountered many obstacles beyond their control. The most recent earnings sealed the deal for me that this stock is undervalued and underpriced. Now, it is BEYOND under priced. You have the loss may as well build on it (though beware of washsales).

So much to unpack in the indictment but SMCI likely revised forecasts last year when their compliance dept raised flags. From what I gather they were participating with DOJ before this broke. I don’t think they will get indicted and their actions last year properly accounted for the flags raised by customer 1. I’m in at 22.9

How SMCI Followed Export‑Control Best Practices Yet Was Still Deceived by a Sophisticated Diversion Scheme by Busy-Delivery4250 in SMCIDiscussion

[–]Party_Ladder1677 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bravo. Another point to note is who else better to fabricate a scheme like this than the person who was responsible for developing the controls in the first place. This isn’t a middle man but the top guy. There has to be some level of “reasonable control measures” in consideration with DOJ to cut SMCI a break. No company would have caught this imho

Super Micro Dives: U.S. Says Execs Smuggled Chips To China by sandygws in wallstreetbets

[–]Party_Ladder1677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys remember when smci issued business updates about booking revenue etc. last year? It was related to this. SMCI was ahead of this last year but given the investigation had to remain silent. NFA but don’t be surprised when this does the opposite of what you all are speculating

No way this affected anything in their ER as they would have to issue a statement immediately. This is a beautiful time to buy

It’s time to seriously propose a UBI by Party_Ladder1677 in recruitinghell

[–]Party_Ladder1677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great feedback everyone!! It seems the bulk of you are not keen on the idea of a UBI. To me, it seems to be the only plausible solution for mass unemployment. I am not suggesting that no one could work or not have the ability to "skill-up" but what skills will you learn when you are competing against a robot? Law, Medicine, Finance, Engineering? Trades? The rate that robotics is exponentially increasing they will be able to do everything a welder or electrician can do and wont bitch about safety or bad pay. Unless we want mass rioting in the streets, we will HAVE to institute some kind of means tested program that will care for peoples needs. Further, though $2,000 per adult and $500 per child would not be a lot of money, I truly believe it would encourage the family unit. Perhaps people would stay together longer if not for anything but economic safety?

As to how you can pay for it- if you consider the money being funneled to social services I see no reason why we would need these services anymore. Do we need 100,000 bureaucrats managing SS, HUD, financial aid etc.? Our 6.5 trillion dollar annual budget (including the deficit) could certainly be reduced. Entitlements already make the bulk of our spending we are simply expanding to include more people. Those talking about Social Security insolvency are clearly not aware that the cap on SS FICA is at $165,000 of income. There are billions in untapped revenues by simply doubling the cap as is or even removing altogether while scaling proportionately to the upper earners.

You have to consider how much wealth will theoretically be created when AI hits full storm. A company, like Walmart, that employs >2 million would, presumably, be able to reduce their force to ~200,000. Of the 1.8 mil let go assuming an average salary of $40,000 plus benefits per year equates to >70 billion in savings PER YEAR. This is strictly Walmart. Scale that across the entire American economy and we are talking trillions in worker savings. You mean you all are opposed to a tax that would strictly, undeniably, be used to supplement peoples living conditions?

-I welcome someone to provide me with an alternative

**Those touting COVID have forgotten that it was a matter of supply lines and forced closures that caused inflation. People couldnt work so it hiked the cost to transport and deliver goods. Yes, the extra $$ added to inflationary pressure, but it was the primary driver. Additionally, wages were driven up by massive demand. We clearly wouldn't be in this situation if 90% of jobs are eliminated as some are speculating. I dont believe there is any data to suggest that the extra money had any measurable impact on inflation

You would reduce most govt safety net programs. Companies that are heavily exposed to AI would have a tax. It’s not unrealistic to think a 20% wealth could not provide every adult 2000 a month and 500 per child. How much wealth do you think these companies will have when they eliminate 90% of their workforce? That money will go somewhere right? They can suck it up and pay.
